He had a stone. In whatever episode just aired dubbed (I think 9 or 10) it shows him making a huge explosion in an Ishbal town. I really should just go watch it subbed ._.

I really don't get why they even made the whole "useless when wet" deal with Mustang when it was clearly shown on Lust's fight that he can use the same alchemical circle for his flame to split water into Hydrogen and Oxygen

They probably tried to stick some kinda limitation on him, since he's so ridiculously powerful. Did he use his glove to separate the oxygen and hydrogen? or did he draw the circle on the ground?

Was only Kimblee who had a stone.

In the first series, I think they were all given stones in Ishbal, but in this one it's only Kimblee.

Man Mustang was sick this episode. They did an excellent job at showing just how consumed by rage he was when Envy admitted to killing Hughes.

Wow, Mustang's evil face was amazing. Seeing him fighting Envy animated was one of the best moments so far in this adaptation.

As I understand it, the only reason water fucks with Mustang is if his glove gets wet. I don't remember if they explained it at the beginning of Brotherhood, but in the first series, they mentioned that his gloves are made of/coated with a substance that creates a spark when he snaps his fingers (like the side of a matchbook). Mustang's actual ability isn't so much creating flames as it is converting the atmosphere around his spark into combustible fuel. He simply directs which direction the alterations go, and poof, crispy critter.

As I recall, against Lust, they had the sprinkler on which prevented him from putting his glove on, and then when they managed to turn it off, Lust destroyed his glove making him unable to create a spark. He then used the cigarette dude's Zippo with the flint and striker still intact to create sparks.

I don't believe the splitting water into Hydrogen and Oxygen was for him to MAKE the flames as much as it was for him to make STRONGER flames. I think the issue was that the chamber they were in didn't contain enough oxygen in the atmosphere to make strong enough flames to do any real damage to Lust.

Mustang had large quantity of water against lust, which is probably not the case here.

Anyway, which fight he lost so far? It doesnt matter how he wins, as long the reasoning behind it is valid and he didn't struggle for a stupid reason. Even against Sscar, it was Hawkeyes who said he was renderered useless by the rain, and knowing these 2, she was probably half serious. Mustang wasnt taking Scar seriously because he is always overconfident, not because water make him useless. That's how I interpret the scenes.

This is correct. If you recall the fight against Lust, she took his gloves after stabbing him and sliced them up to disable him. After he caught up with her, using the lighter and a circle he cut into his hand (which you could see the remains of later in the series), he was able to continue his fight against her. Earlier in the fight, he created Hydrogen (using the circle on his glove), then Havoc throws the lighter in to blow up the room. It wasn't because of the oxygen in the room, but because she had cut a water line and soaked them. If he wanted to fight her with flames, Havoc would have to be spinning the lighter to make the spark constantly as his gloves were wet at that point. It's in episode 19 if anyone wants to check it -- too lazy to find the manga issue.

Early on, Mustang was portrayed as being very arrogant about his flames. That's why he went to fight Scar in the rain, and then Hawkeye had to knock him over so he wouldn't get killed.

I know I'm way late to the thread, just started to catch up on the new anime (never read the manga) and watched episode 10 last night. But holy shit at Maes Hughes's death I don't remember him dieing in the original anime, was so sad

Yeah, it was fairly identical to the original in the way it occurred and I think Elicia's lines are for the most part the same. As mentioned earlier, I'm pretty sure the "why are they burying him? he has work to do :c" thing just kills everyone instantaneously. ,_,

Guess getting a little thrown off w/ how much faster Brotherhood is moving, compared to the original.
