Yeah this FMA series is really close to the manga. The Mangas always worth a rread though
Seeing what I read today animooted is also going to be hard to watch, fucking FMA.
Spoiler: show
About Greed/Lin:
Spoiler: show
one sided fight aren't too much fun to watch
unless it involves lots and lots of fire
I don't think his hardening actually slows down his regeneration. What Ed figured out was that Greed can't harden and regenerate at the same time, though any existing armor is left intact, e.g. he can't make NEW armor while he's regenerating. So this still leaves the question of why Greed doesn't just start the fight fully armored. He probably just doesn't like the way he looks.

Greed wasn't armored at all when Bradley stabbed him in the four nodes, so we don't really know if his full armor has any weaknesses.
like I said earlier, there is probably not a real reason why he is not always fully armored, other than for aesthetic reasons, maybe from Greed's point of view, but most definitely from the author's. Armored Greed's face doesn't convey much emotion.
I still like the idea that the full armor lessens flexibility, which is a big part of Ling's fighting style. But that's something I more or less just made up because there's no basis for that thought anywhere in the manga.
Could also be something more generic like using the armor saps his stone supply. Maybe not as quickly as a death, but over time heavy reliance would do him in.
Well from what I remember.. when he fought with the full body armor on he couldn't keep up well with Edward . Notice he was actually being hit in various places.
Considering the speed of bradely.. he probably can't "keep up" with that speed being in a full body set.. so he only solidify's his hands(to attack)/parts to protect. (notice he can actually dodge bradely that has attacks much faster then what edward could ever do)
I mean the guy can cut through a building etc with a sword... that body armor probably can't take too many blows constantly from bradley since he'd just be a sitting target for him in a full body suit where he can't move very fast.
Ed was damaging Greed because he figured out how his shield worked, and could use alchemy to destroy it. Bradley's swords are all absolutely useless against Greed's shield.
It may not be said, but by the looks it must have to do something with the new greed/lin. As he went it much faster I think with old greed and used it more?
That or just to make him not seem stronger then the bad ass Wrath. ~_~ hate looking to much into stuff like this, makes me feel like I am lessening it by finding plot holes
It could make sense that converting to/from the armor would use up some stone power, but just sitting around in armor form shouldn't if Ed's explanation of how it worked was correct
Greed was getting hit/beat up by Ed before he put on the armor as well, and couldn't dodge/block a single hit from Bradley at that time either, with or without armor. I think you can chalk this up to the old Greed just sucking ass, and having no martial arts skills/crazy reflexes from Ling.
I don't think there was ever any implication that the armor slowed him down, just that he thought it was ugly. If you look at this show asking why didn't X character do Y during Z fight...very few of the fights make all that much sense. Ed especially, there are a ton of situations where alchemy he's done in the past could help/solve a current problem, but he doesn't bust it out because it isn't convenient for the plot.
Semi replying to both!
old greed = homonculus body = slow (slowed him more to use full body)
Current greed = martial arts expert body = faster then old greed
Full body would slow him to where he may not be able to dodge the attacks
Thats how I see it anyway!
Greed (Full Body transform)
Can barely dodge the kid even though he "knows" it will be bad if he gets hit.

Greed easily dodging spear attacks (not full transform) around 3:27

Greed semi sort of dodging Wrath/Bradely (not full transform) for a few seconds anyway

Ling = martial arts body most likely the boost greed needed in reflexs to dodge Wrath alot better unlike his first encounter. (as mentioned before)

Little is known about Ling's past. He is the heir to his clan and as such, was constantly the target of assassination attempts. Because of this, he has learned to 'fight dirty'. Although Ling is untrained in alkhestry, he has significant martial arts and sword training
