Just noticed this in brotherhood:
Spoiler: show
It seems Greed's hardening does use his Philosopher's Stone's power. Although this same scene in the manga does not show the red transmutation energy, so it could be just an anime error as well.
One piece tends to go with really slow pacing instead of random completely meaningless filler, though they still do some.
Its somewhat hard to compare the Jump 3 to FMA since they are all weekly chapters, when FMA is monthly with longer chapters.
At any rate i completely caught up with the series and a wish i had sooner since only one manga chapter and 7-ish episode left. Though I still find it somewhat odd that they're doing a 63-ish episode anime when they skipped more then enough material to make it a ~100 total without any filler, but whatever, i guess having both end at similar times is kinda cool also.
My guess would be that they skipped a lot to prevent 1/4th - 1/3rd of it being the same as the original anime... since ppl wanted to see new material, not alrdy produced stuff w/ a new art design.
It only shows the red sparks when he makes or gets rid of the armor (which makes sense since it was described as an alchemic process that moves a bunch of his body's carbon to his skin). Given that, if his power did use the philosopher stone, rapidly summoning/dropping the armor like Greed-Ling does should be like the most inefficient use of souls possible.
It's probably just an aesthetic thing added to the anime thou, given that they aren't there in the manga, and how inconsistent those red sparks were with Envy in the anime. Lust's power also seemed fairly similar to Greed's (growing carbon-looking claw weapons rather than making a shield out of it), and that had no red sparks.
The little Xing girl's dub is so bad. QQ
It's alright though, since people who actually watches dub aren't people to begin with
I always respected FMA for it's decent dubbing job, but her voice... is just so bad.
Edit: T_T Lin's voice is pretty bad too.
I watched one dubbed episode the first season
Holy shit Winry's voice was so bad
But whatever, season 1 gave me so much satisfaction just by the virtue of spoiling all my friends that watches the dub.
Yeah..checked it out to check out the new characters voices.. ugh. Only the old dude sounds semi-decent. I still remember Winry's though. I like her VA because she's cute so >.>
The original series was pretty damn good imo with the dubbing, but it seems they're not even trying with the new character additions. I do agree that the old man was pretty good.
Wouldn't call it great, but not terrible, either. Trying not to associate the English VAs to what we've known of 55+ JP episodes. Sometimes people need a few episodes to get a feel for the character, too. Lin might be more interesting once he takes on Greed, for example.
I'm willing to bet they won't even bother casting different people for Lin and Greed

Eclipse has episode 58 and holy crap:
Spoiler: show
Lin going down the tank elevator and looking down on everyone on that pose then giving the ultimatum was fucking awesome
This episode was so badass. Lin/greed parts were amazing. Really amazed at how this show keeps outdoing itself, 10/10 anime.
Just saw it and have to agree. Lin was extremely badass... and that shot of him dripping blood w/all the explosions in the background was perfect.. wasn't surprised at all they used that as the snapshot for after the preview
I binged on this series the last 3 or so days and watched the 40 episodes of anime I hadn't seen and read the remainder of the manga... all I can say is, this wildly surpassed my expectations and may be the single best series I've ever read/watched.
It's amazing how the story makes you feel for even some of the more minor characters; my best example may be the four chimera characters in the latter parts of the series. It feels almost cliche to get so emotionally charged up about an underdog team of both "good" and "bad" teaming up, but I've never felt so damn good about it.
About ch107 specifically
Spoiler: show
What's exact release for last chapter, I understand sometime in June?
