    Spoiler: show
He's capable of regenerating it, and he has before. The reason he can't near the end is due to him forcing Mustang to open the gate. That was the whole reason why they didn't force 5 random alchemists to open the gate in the first place.

When did they show him regenerating it? During the fight with heinkel, and when he got hit with the car, he had no regeneration sparks, he just took the damage like a tank. His scuffs/scrapes from getting beaten up by heinkel (I believe the first time he got hit) also never dissppeared until his container/body was entirely destroyed.

    Spoiler: show
During the fight with Heinkel, he was getting slashed in the back, etc. If he didn't have regeneration, he'd be in trouble. More importantly though, he ate Gluttony to restock his own stone. That wouldn't have been running low if he hadn't been using it to regenerate the damage Heinkel was doing.

Also, whoever said Mustang was a second away from doing human transmutation voluntarily, the only reason he "agreed" to do it was because he saw Hawkeye's signal. He wasn't actually going to do it.

He had no regeneration sparks, and the visual scrapes/bruises never healed. Considering he also got hit by a car with no injury, and also never bled under any circumstance, seems much more like his shell body was just built like a tank(and not really human). When Ed destroys his body, you can see it was just hollow on the inside.

I would assume the damage he took/souls he used up were from the flashbangs killing his shadow, considering the above plus he seemed angry/in-pain when this happened, where as he didn't seem to give a shit about heinkel pummeling his shell body.

I think this is one of those topics that could be debated by nerds on the internet till the end of time.

The way I see it, Pride is calm, collected, and scheming. When the flashbangs went off, they ruined his plan. But when Heinkel was fighting him, he knew eventually there would be more light, that Gluttony was also around, and was concocting a new plan during all that.

That said, his body started deteriorating after his stone got used up to perform Mustang's human transmutation. Since he could still use his powers after this, I imagine the shadows aren't powered by the philosopher's stone, but his container (his human body) is. Similar to Father originally, since he was the first Homunculus probably created before father adapted, he needs a contained or he falls apart.

There was nothing said about "his stone being used up" in the manga, it just said his body/container was unstable/breaking up from being involved in mustangs transmutation, and he was desperate to get a new one. I don't see anything to hint it used any of his stone, especially considering it was just a random failed human transmutation like the others, and he still had he called a "typhoon" of souls (which he was surprised to recognize Kimbley amongst) at the point Ed destroyed his body.

I don't see why Pride using his "shadow"(IE:his actual body) to attack would use up his stone anyway, using the souls to regenerate/sustain it like the other homunculi makes sense thou. And again, from what I can see his container was never shown to regenerate(or heal at all) from anything, ever, so I don't get your argument on that. If there was something showing he did post it up.

    Spoiler: show
Pride's actual body has never been damaged. As far as we know, it can't be harmed outside of being completely out of its container.

His body, Selim Bradly has been seen hurt. It's been shown to bleed. In his fight vs the Lion Chimera, he dices the hell out of Selim, and you can see slashes all over his clothing, but no cuts.. Any "damage to Selim that didn't regenerate" from what I could see, was just dirt, but since it's only in black and white, I suppose that could be hard to differentiate.
The scenes in the manga skip around a lot in that fight, so any healing that would have happened, isn't shown.

As far as why he didn't fight back without his shadows, without them, he's just a regular kid. There's no way a kid would win a fight against a lion. All he could do was wait.

And I highly doubt the human transmutation used up Pride's souls and that was the reason. Father and the homunculus had dozens of stones. If all it did was use up stones, I don't see how they still wouldn't just find 5 random alchemists, make them transmutate, then replenish their stones. Plus, there was another stone in that same exact room, so he could have just used that. So obviously it's something else that was causing the damage to Prides container.
Especially when you consider the fact that right before Pride is finished off, Kimbley is seen inside the "Typhoon of souls" so he very, extremely obviously still had many souls left. This last paragraph is 100% true and backed by the manga so it can not in any way be debated or refuted upon.

That's AFTER Riza signal's him not to or else she'd beat him to death, though.

It seemed like he was thinking about doing it before the signal not to. He wouldn't be sweating and shaking if he was just like "Yeah, I'm not gonna do it, even if it means my friend's death" in his head. It was Riza's words/signal that finally calmed him. At least, that's how I saw the whole thing.

To the first part, you see large parts of Pride being basically cut off by flashbangs and disintegrating into the air.

To the second part, no he never bled, go look at chapter 86 again.

The only thing that remotely looks like him bleeding is this, and if you look it's just his vest being torn up. He doesn't bleed a drop while being pummeled in the face or getting hit by a car either.

This may or may not have to do with censorship not wantin to show a little kid gettng brutally fucked up, choice of the manga-ka or otherwise.

I agree. Can't really fault Square-Enix for censoring, what looks like, a 5 year old being slashed to ribbons.

You can see them if you right click -> view image; the URLs are valid, not sure why the forums don't want to show them.

i saw those, but they're not blood. this show has NO problem showing blood on kids, and well defined too. why would it suddenly stop with selim, a main villain.
