Ok, a lot of good questions were answered.

Now my only concern is how to purchase and receive a token.

Since they're region free, and since I play from Italy but with an US account, I should:

    - Create an US Square-Enix account
    - Link the US Square-Enix account to my US POL account
    - Purchase a token from an EU website (that's the part I'm not sure on how it will work)
    - Since the token is region-free, link the token to my US Square-Enix account.

    i think it means:

NA FFXI = NA SE account (doesnt matter where you live)

example: you can be in europe or asia or india, but bought a NA FFXI version, then you prolly need make a NA SE account

thats all, doesnt matter where you buy the token(token is region free)

as for how you gotta get the token sent to your door step, theres absolutely nothing to worry

every country got their PO service to buy stuffs from any country. Eg. You can subscribe a US PO box, even if you live in asia, buy the product send it to your US PO box, and your US PO box will send to your home. This is a common service and SHOULD be available world wide. Just check with your local PO

^This. A thousand times this. I don't want to be penalised for wanting the game before it came out over here in 6 months time ¬_¬ I wonder if a POL rep would answer any queries we have on this...

Why are we assuming that SE will only send a token to the address your account is under? I miss the part where it said tokens will only be sent to an address that is linked to your account. God forbid you should change address after five years of playing the game like I have from parents' home to college to my own place.

So ... I can add multiple IDs to one token.

But can I add multiple tokens to one ID? Like, for instance, I want to put my account, my mule account, and my boyfriend's two accounts. Will that mean he can't add his accounts to his own security token? And vice versa.

This is still awesome. Both of my accounts will have it, for the price of one. Yay!

As i wrote in the other thread, those services are expensive, so you will pay the 9.99$, the fee of the PO box service and the shipping fee for forwarding the package to your home.

So, it would be wise, for example, if you have a US account but live in EU, ordering the token from an EU version of POL Viewer, paying 9.99€ w/o any additional shipping/forwarding fee, and using it on your US account. This should be possible if these tokens are truly region-free. So it doesn't matter if you purchase yours in Japan, Europe or North-America... it should work with any Square-Enix account.

Q What do I do if my security token is lost or broken?
A Please contact the Information Center immediately.
As soon as we have confirmed that you are the account holder, we will remove the security token settings from your account.
Wow.... that's kind of pathetic customer support. So if this breaks or it gets lost they have no replacement warrenty and forcing me to buy another?

Yeah...otherwise the tokens will only be region-free on paper.

Not only are they technically not making these themselves, they aren't even really making a profit to begin with, so they have to order even more which means they lose even more money.

It's no different than buying an iPod. Can you imagine how many people would "lose" their iPods if the warranty covered it?

BTW these devices are extremely durable. You can drop/step on them. It won't break unless you do things that would never be covered by a warranty anyway.

im wondering if SE will be able to see if someone is using windower...if they register their account, will a person have to choose between windower and +80 inventory spaces?

That is pretty terrible. As far as I know, Blizzard sends a new one (I believe you have to pay for it though).

Eheh.. from SE i would expect anything

Also another concern of mine is to prove my identity if my token stops to work or goes lost... when I got hacked they just asked me things like last c/c ciphers, internet provider of the last connection, registration codes and such things. But lately I've heard from a friend of mine who got hacked in my same situation (EU person with an US account) they asked him a fax with a copy of an identity card and the manual page with the registration codes (°___°") Obviously name and address on his account were false.. so he wasn't able to prove to be the legitimate owner and lost his POL account forever.

So until now I had to be scared by hackers, with token I will be scared by losing/breaking my security token that's kinda fun for sure..

PS. before someone blames me for identity stealing or such things, the name/address on my pol account are those of a real person living in US, who kindly gave me in 2003 after I asked. But obviously it would be too weird to ask her a copy of an identity card should happens the SE wants it... LOL..

These aren't "new" unless you mean new to you.

I don't see how this has anything to do with Windower but maybe I'm missing something.

Looks like they did pretty well with this, here's hoping for a proper software implementation as well.

edit: holy christ did everyone know that they can spend $116 on a level 1 RL ring??? Or $230 on shadow lord paperweight?

Q Is security token usage restricted by region?

A No, security token usage is not restricted by region. However, you can only link Square Enix accounts and PlayOnline IDs that are from the same region. If you have a North American PlayOnline ID, please obtain a North American Square Enix account.
In other words, I know players who are from Hong Kong and South Korea but can only play using an account registered to someone in Japan. Those players will have to get a security token that is linked in Japan, and it will get SENT there.

Another person I know plays in Italy, but has an account registered in the US with an American address. His token will be sent there.

There's the problem: You live in one country, but in order to play you have someone register you in an account such as US or Japan or European countries with an address there. Your token will be sent to that address, not where you live.
I doubt you will get banned, but that is up to SE themselves. But, the question is, those who are doing it that way, how will you get your tokens if you plan on using it?

I'm from the US so I won't have this problem. But, I have friends in other countries that plan on using it.
Unless I am misunderstanding you, I think you have it backwards. They explicitly state that you can use a token universally. It is the SE account that is regional.

If they are talking about the SE accounts that they have been setting up for a while, then they are already available. They even posted something about it last month.

I am sure that they have the normal "wear and tear" warranty that comes with all new electronics.

No company is going to foot the bill for someone else fucking up their product. That would be retarded.

This is just another one of those "whine about anything" complaints.
