Has the PS2 download time always been so long compared to Xbox and PC? It doesn't surprise me, updating my PS2 always took forever.

It's because the "Checking Files" and "Installing" portion takes so fucking long on it.

PS2 always had some thing with the HDD that made it took longer. A form of compression for the FFXI folders that's whacked i recall, as well has all the check sums it runs through updating is too much for the "ye old little train that couldn't", over average pcs and the xbox.

More than likely, due to the fact that they are quests/missions that involve areas that already exist in the game. The same thing happened with WoTG where people who didn't install the expansion still have WoTG quests that take place in the present installed, only they can't access them.

This is big? Latest WoW update is over 1gig, which is why they open downloads so early... 80 megs is nothing for a WoW patch.

Yet this isn't WoW. 'Big' updates for FFXI are always between 80-130mb+

Just saying that opening up downloads early for an 80mb patch shouldn't be a huge deal when Blizzard can manage patches of the same size for 11 million people with no problems.

I will go ahead and suggest that having 20 times the membership gives you a little more financial leeway when it comes to this kind of thing.
