I don't want to turn this into WoW vs FFXI, but Blizzard is also working on a new MMO and has shifted a lot of staff over to the new project. The fact that the update servers get congested is a matter of incompetance or the fact that they simply ignore the problem.

It also might have to do with the fact we all download our updates from Japan whereas Blizzard sets up mirrors and other methods of download besides "WOW CLIENT ONLY".

This is big? Latest WoW update is over 1gig, which is why they open downloads so early... 80 megs is nothing for a WoW patch.

Once you start comparing WoW to FFXI, you are starting some sort of WoW vs FFXI stuff.

The WoW client itself uses some sort of torrent like peer-to-peer system for downloading updates too.

They mentioned that they couldnt drop PS2 support due to legal obligations or something but i dont see why theyre still supporting the PS2 version when sony have ceased production on both the backwards compatable PS3 and the HD capable PS2.

So what happens to all those who still have the HD capable PS2s or the backwards compatible PS3s? I think those still using those 2 platforms make up more of the population than PC and XBox combined. The new PS2/3s don't allow new users to play but they still are the majority of the existing player base.

Blizzard, who is working on their next MMO and WoW is pretty much their sole source of incomre or SE, who is working on their next MMO but have a pretty diverse portfolio even if FFXI is their main breadwinner?
