Eventually down the road... 1-2 years maybe? Will we ever hit a point where the PS2 will just not be able to keep up? Will there ever be a day where there is nothing SE can do about the PS2 and no longer support it?

Odds are theres a reason you have to download a portion of the files for every expansion (including the mini one) even if you don't own it/have it registered.

The gear .dat files all go into ROM, which is the main FFXI folder. ROM2, ROM3, etc are for the expansions and that's where the files for things like NPCs and the like are located.

I'm speaking of when files are missing, only hypothetically mind you.

although perhaps you would crash for missing files, but not replaced ones

but ive accidentally put dats from the wrong folders in place of other ones, since numbers get confusing. and if i dont crash, i just get an invisible piece of gear
