Do yourself a favor and stay above 210 at least. At 6'8 anything under 200 is just about anorexic imo. If you are going to the gym and doing any sort of weight training it shouldnt be hard to stay between 210 and 225.

Meh I wouldn't fully agree with that.
I was 6'6" and 180-185 when I ran my first marathon. Shit was so money and almost the best I felt in my entire life.
Got back into swimming and trying to get up to 4 miles a day. Just hit the 1 mile mark so about ehrrr Halloween or maybe earlier I will get into swimming 4 miles a day.
You are just fortunate you are 6'8" as far as the loose skin goes - tons of people have significant loose skin issues when losing that much weight, trust me.
Also, what the fuck 6'8 asian dude. Sup Hong-Man Choi?
I don't remember, are you doing much weight-lifting as part of your routine? At your current size that's what I'd be going for - put on some muscle to keep that metabolism up, the little gut will go down as you get stronger. Watching the numbers go down is fun, but at your height your weight is hardly an issue. Although you're still 3 lbs from being in the "normal weight" BMI range - get that 227 and then chill on the cutting for a bit.
Basically, I'd say stop 'cutting' and start building. That is a very impressive transformation though, as someone that has guided people through similar extreme weight loss. Congratulations, now go pick up some chicks with your giant asian ass.
I don't mean take them on dates, I just mean walk around and physically pick random girls up, it sounds hilarious to me.
lol?
No it doesn't. It requires a healthy diet, exercise, and a can do attitude. Most people are just brainwashed into the "it's not my fault I'm fat and there's nothing I can do about it" or "I have (insert made up medical condition that they don't have here) so it's not my fault" modes.
Weight loss is real real simple. Calories out > calories in. Once you educate yourself about how to acheive that (via educating yourself, diet, exercise, etc), it then becomes an issue of motiviation and what sacrifices and life style changes you are or are not ready to commit to.
Congrats on your journey Jazz. I went through a similiar phase a few years ago and dropped from ~310 to 220 (but I'm only 6'4"!) over a 5-6 month period. Just remember, it's not really about the actual weight number, it's about how you look and how you feel.
Soon you're going to enter into the hardest part of all though; keeping it off and keeping your new lifestyle active. I found that once I committed to losing the weight, that was easy to keep up, espcially once you start seeing the results. But once you get down to a certain area and plateau, it can become difficult to keep up with the routine. I still struggle with that to this day. There are so many tempations around all the time, you have to emply an iron will to stay in line. Good luck!
Wow congratulations man!
What specifically have you do or what advice did you take from this thread to help you out? Maybe this will inspire some people to see that it is possible and motivate them to do it themselves.
Jazz, I love reading your stories. You need to keep us updated.
That's really amazing, and makes me wish I had taken my weight loss more seriously this summer. In the middle of March when I moved in with my buddy from college I was at my heaviest of 380. Up until 7 days ago I ate normally, still drank obscene amounts of pop, but just started walking and doing push ups and sit ups every other day. I dropped to 350 in that time, and gained significant strength in my arms. As I mentioned, a week ago I stopped drinking pop, and started eating a regimented diet of about 1800-2200 calories. I shed 8 pounds in those 7 days. I think what amazed me most is that it took only a week of eating smaller portions for my stomach to become accustomed to it. I went to a Chinese buffet today (I hear it's a good idea to splurge once a week so as not to hit a metabolic decline or some shit) and I almost couldn't finish the one plate I got. Back in the day I used to easily put away two enormous plates of food.
If anybody has some good suggestions on how to tighten up the skin and diminish stretch marks, I am most interested to hear. I'm nervous about still having tits after achieving an otherwise slim frame.
This product really does work for scarring. I had surgery on my wrist after a really bad break and this definitely helped (compared to other scars that I did nothing for). The scar actually tans and is soft like the rest of the skin around it. It's a bit expensive, but worth it if you want to improve the cosmetic appearance.
Big congrats to you on all your hard work and rewards. Don't worry about the confidence with the ladies, just challenge yourself to make progress (not unlike your diet and exercise project). Start off small, that you'll smile and say hello. Then step it up to having a short conversation. If you work at it as hard as you are obviously capable, you'll be confidently asking ladies out in no time.
P.S. I know the product works specifically on stretch marks too as my wife used it after having our first child, with good results.
Edit: Speaking of pregnancy, you can check out a variety of "belly butter" type products pregnant women use. They'll help keep the skin tight while you shed the pounds.
I weigh 135 at last check, I'm 5'9" and 18 in a month. I'm going to be starting a workout regimen just because I want to get toned, just kinda skinny atm. I can't gain weight for the life of me no matter my diet, and only gain any lbs by lifting and gaining muscle. Is running going to be contradictory at all? I really can't stand it and would rather just stick to lifting but I guess cardio is an important part of a balanced workout :/.
yeah, i lost a ton of weight.
i was 230 at my max weight, and now i'm at about 150.
just recently actually started to work out though. running alot and excersizing to kinda let my body get used to itself.... all i really did was eat less and only drink water.
i have excess skin, but it's starting to become less noticeable. my stomach is going to be flat by xmas i'm hoping, so... fuck yar in that regard.
You cant do both, you cant cut and bulk at the same time naturally. Odds if you're that small you can easily put on another 50-60lbs before you'd even have to worry about cardio as a form of cutting. if you're just doing it for the upkeep, look into interval training or windsprints, short and sweet.
Hey res (art), what do you think of Chuck Taylor's for squats? I ordered a pair because of the flat soles.
Realistically if you're really looking to add muscle you shouldn't be doing that much cardio, aside from a short 10 minute warmup before you lift and *maybe* some on an off day. Essentially the more cardio you do while bulking, the more calories you'll need to ingest to continue gaining weight.
What residue said is right, it's a lot more realistic to eat clean and lift to bulk up for a few months, then go into caloric deficit and do lots of cardio to burn off any fat you gained, rather than lifting and cardio simultaneously and attempting to bulk that way.
At your weight I'd imagine putting on muscle is the only way you'll look toned.
Big muscles are gross.
I actually just ordered P90X after reading about it on here, and seeing the infomercials on the tv all the time. I'm currently 6'2 213 lbs. My legs are ok, I just wanna tone down my stomach, chest and arms. I'm anxious about the pull up part, as I was never even able to do the monkey bars as a kid lol. When I've lost weight, the lowest I've been was like 198. I just took a break from working out for a while and didn't stick to my diet. I figure the P90X workout and nutrition plan should get me back on track. Even when I've lost weight before I haven't gotten any definition...just shrunk sorta...so this should help I hope.
