I am 6'3, 230 lbs. I have a large "frame" and can easily get away with a couple extra lbs, and not look overweight. I started working out at the gym 4-5 times a week about 1.5 months ago. I know results are not overnight, and take a number of months for noticeable difference. I have also reduced my calorie intake by half at least. At work I mark down everything I eat and usually do not exceed 900-1000 calories while at work from 9-5.
I do the elliptical for about an hour every day and burn 600-800 calories depending on how hard I go. I then go home and eat dinner. Slowly but surely, I am getting used to smaller portion sizes eating stuff like weight watchers and lean cuisine the last 3 weeks. Also starting to notice my pants have a little more room in them. I am going to continue this.
Here's my question(s) though:
Do I need to eat more calories? Before dieting and excercise, I would eat about 2500-3000. Which is more than the suggested 2000 for men. I now consume about 1400-1800 calories per day. But then I need to factor in working out with that? Let's say I eat 1800 calories in a day, then go to the gym and burn 700 calories. Is that too few calories for the body to properly burn stuff off? Like anytime I eat is my body just storing it because my body thinks it's starving itself?
That's my main concern, but I think my current plan is working. Any suggestions are welcome.
