The last two marathons I have been in I had to leave basically right after the run. That is when all the fun starts because everyone has the runner's high and gets horny as shit. So throw in alcohol and runner's hornyness and you get a good ole time.
After DC I had to get to go to the MNF game and then the recent one here in Nashville, I had to go to Chattanooga right after for a wedding reception. If I go to Marine Corp again I will be there for a little afterward.
Oh man that sucks! I want to get on some girls ass with that runners high, is the high anything like yay or weed? Is it the same kind of high i got when i was boxing?
Also, I hear running has a lot of homosexuals in it, is it true? I mean, I dont care, I was just wondering because some of my friends I played FFXI said that it was for gays, but they were fat. your not gay are you lolol, j/k. I am still going to start running even if there are many gays running amok. Gay people are kinda cool. They have nice hair styles.
Finally, is there a huge physiological change when you start running? Yes I know in theory there is, but have you actually seen it in person? I am hoping to lose all of this fat from drinking patron and eating bad food (fucking kebabs). Like I said, i am already down to like 210, just need to knock off 20 lbs of fattyness.
My basis? I'm sure you've heard the argument that using a smith machine doesn't help build stabilizer muscles nearly as much as free weights.
My basis is that building stabilizer muscles are, um, good, and, important and stuff. Do you disagree with the idea that free weights are better for stabilizer muscles, or do you think they are not...good and stuff?
But mainly, my question would be - if you've got free weights over here, and the smith machine over there...why ...not use free weights?
If you are at a gym without free weights, sure, smith away - I just don't understand why people would prefer it if they are trying to build strength.
I really don't care if you use a smith machine (I think it is inferior to free weights for muscle and strength gains, if you want to be a nazi about the difference but whatever), I'm sure you can build...um...strengthless muscle or something whatever you are talking about that doesn't make a whole lotta sense...
...but I gotta just do a little bolding at your expense for fun times.
You guys both have a point. I'm going for strength so I have opted not to use a smith machine anymore. All of my squats are free on a squat rack now. I want the stabilizer muscles. If I didn't care about them I'd be on the smith because it's easier.
BTW, I was in residue's linkshell back when I played FFXI and I've seen pictures of him. Dude's jacked. Not that it matters any to this conversation, but I'm impressed by his physique.
Guess this is the thread to post it in... I was wondering if anyone knew of a site ( it's been posted before somewhere ) where it listed all the muscle groups and had gifs for different workouts for all the different muscle groups
This would be a good place to start. They have a good instructional youtube video and they have links to their website on the youtube hompage.

(thx to serif for telling me about them)
So a lot of people have been recommending the P90X DVDs for workouts, so I grabbed a copy of the Plyometrics DVD (alright, I pirated it). None the less, I popped it into my PS3 a while ago after a short tempo run just to get a feel of it. God damn. That ain't no fucking joke. I'd like to think I'm in pretty decent shape, from the waist down at the very least. That DVD fucked me up. Maybe because it was after the tempo (that'll be my excuse at least). I'm going to try and run through it twice a week, I think it'll be damn good cross training. According to the guy doing the training, it's one of the toughest workouts they have. It certainly gets my two thumbs up for one hell of a workout.
I'm working out 5-6 times a week (4 miles on the track/45 minutes exercise bike for cardio, 60 push ups/sit ups as a warm up), but my diet is still terrible. I also have zero self control when it comes to my sweet tooth, so I've just stopped buying the stuff. Anyone know of any good resources for coming up with a good balanced diet?

(April 20th, 2009) 5th Week Weight - 273 lbs
(April 27th, 2009) 6th Week Weight - 269 lbs
(May 4th, 2009) 7th Week Weight - 265 lbs
(May 11th, 2009) 8th Week Weight - 260 lbs
8th Week Loss - 5 lbs
Total Weight Loss - 50 lbs
I am a better man. Or at least I would hope so from the transformation. 50 lbs in two month, the idea itself scares the crap out of me. But I guess my scale is telling the truth as I weighted myself at the supermarket’s free weight-machine and got the surprisingly identical numbers.
Even though I feel great, have more energy, and able to move without expending a hefty sigh, nobody has yet to compliment me on my new body.
Well, nobody until this weekend . . . . by Jason’s girlfriend, or also known as the black-banshee. It happened quietly. I was taking care of my usual business as I strolled into the kitchen, fixing up my usual healthy shit. While I passed by the living room, I found Jason being tortured in front of the tube to a movie called The Wedding Date. (Mwahahahahaha squirm you poor bastard.)
So I fixed up some bean salad and a nice helping of tofu and green sprouts, made my way outside to the table and begun to dig in. Little to my knowledge, the black banshee was beaming over my shoulders and gagging at my food.
Buzz off; don’t you know it’s rude to stare at people when they eat? I hated when puppies do it and I can assure you that I will treat you the same way as I would to one of your fellow canine relatives: with a good kick.
“Jeez, Jet Lee, what’s with all this stuff you’re eating?”
I swear if I were ever left alone in a room with this woman: Pow! Right in the kisser!
(I’m just kidding, I don’t have violent tendencies . . . .)
Yes, she just compared me to the chinese midget that’s as annoying to listen to as to watch. Apparently, to the banshee, evaluating me with some pathetic movie star was cute to her. I had the urge of calling her Joan Rivers since her overly stretched mule face reminded me of the actress. Nevertheless, I had to resist my temptation. After all, I live with her poor choice of a boyfriend. And being a soul believer of feng shui, I did like to keep my surroundings harmonized.
So, I heaved, and turned to her curiosity in which I welcomed her to the knowledge of my diet. For some oddball reason, she seemed intrigued. Patting me on my shoulders, the girl congratulated me on my weight loss. I meeped. What’s this? Friendliness from the banshee? Geeez, and here I was, thinking of ripping her face off.
It was then, Jason got jealous and barked. “It’s only a phase, he’ll ripe up again by july.”
. . . . .
Bastard.
^^that's pretty sweet dude, keep it up. You might slow down a bit as you're getting closer to your goal weight but don't let it discourage you and just be patient/stick with it.
anyways;
Anyone here do a lot of bike riding? I'm looking into getting into biking for some of my cross training but don't know whats good as far as bike brands go and what types would be best. Like.. if at one point I want to try building up to 30+ miles on a weekend or w/e.. do the regular posture one work like this one Trek Bikes | Bikes | Road | 7.5 FX? or one of them forward leaning ones like... Trek Bikes | Bikes | Road | 1.2. I'm just using these trek bikes as an example as its the only site so far to actually show the bikes/prices/specs/reviews/etc. Any tips would help! Thx.
I used to ride pretty regularly, until my bike got jacked and I didn't have the money to replace it so I just kind of stopped. haha I did trail riding though, not road. (Way more fun)
It was a pretty basic hardtail mountain bike. I forget the make, might have been a Specialized. But I would usually ride 4-5 miles to a valley in my town, where I would do singles trails until I got tired, embarrassed myself from being terrible at riding, or hurt myself, and then ride back. I'd do this a few times a week, or I'd do a 10-15 mile ride around the area when I was lazy.
Tons of fun, huge adrenaline rush when you go balls out. Minus the separated shoulder and broken collar bone(twice). Relatively minor injuries though. Definitely was an awesome way to exercise... wish I had the extra cash to go buy a new bike.
EDIT: My cousin's bike is similar to the one I had. This is his: http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...hopper&eid=107
