I think weed is cool too, but I don't smoke anymore because of my situation. It is pretty simple.

If you continue to smoke weed at the risk of losing your job or a different serious consequence, you might need help.

It isn't so much because drugs impair your ability is that employers feel that people who use drugs are more likely to commit crimes in the workplace such as stealing.

They are 100000% correct to feel that way when dealing with hardcore drugs like meth.

I hate that marijuana gets thrown in with the other hardcore drugs they check for, but there is so much misinformation and propaganda against marijuana that we just have to learn to deal with it.

If I was an employer I would drug test but let weed slide. However, I am not an employer. While I enjoy weed, I enjoy getting paid more so I don't smoke it

I go to work everyday, I'm never late, I do my job very well, I'm the only one in the company that does my job, I get along with everyone, I save the company thousands of dollars a month, I dont operate heavy machinery, I dont drive company cars. What the fuck does it matter if I smoke weed sometimes?

Actually, I think that for a first offense they can't fire you, but they will probably require you to immediately take a 2nd. They probably will require you to go into counseling or rehab depending on the substance as well. From what I know, unless you fail the 2nd test as well, they are unable to fire you for the first failed test. Kinda like your one time "get out of jail free" card.

Well, if you work at a job that either promotes itself as a "Drug free workplace" (state funds received) or you are responsible for others' safety, i.e. you drive a truck, operate machinery, or give instructions / supervise those that do, they have a very big concern as to whether or not you do drugs. And no, it's not an invasion of privacy, all it takes is one time of you being stoned or drunk at work and a complete disaster can occur.
