Most of the metabolites, especially from light and infrequent use, are out of your body quickly, like within a day. There is still some left, but if you detox or dilute, you will almost always pass.

Just be glad hair sample tests are more expensive, those suck.

My buddy who is a driver for a Napa autoparts store got tested and (without surprise to me and our friends) failed. Since it was his first offense, he was given either 24 or 48 hours to "sober up" (which we all know is very easy to do sometimes). I think he mentioned that he never smokes while driving, obviously for company safety, and his employer let it slide a little - as long as the 2nd test was negative.

I think you'll be ok. If it comes up positive, just tell your HR/boss your story that you smoke on your own time and that you would gladly take another test. If you are a good worker I doubt they will fire you on the spot if they were looking for cocaine users.

Well, if you work at a job that either promotes itself as a "Drug free workplace" (state funds received) or you are responsible for others' safety, i.e. you drive a truck, operate machinery, or give instructions / supervise those that do, they have a very big concern as to whether or not you do drugs. And no, it's not an invasion of privacy, all it takes is one time of you being stoned or drunk at work and a complete disaster can occur.

The difference being that nobody cares if you were drunk last weekend. You won't get fired for barhopping on your own time. You will be terminated for drug use, no matter when it occurs.

Ooooh, I have a couple of good drug test stories (none from me though, I'm a pee for enjoyment, not for employment kind of guy).

I had a friend who was a dancer at my college. They required her to take a piss test to keep dancing, and she was really dirty, like doing coke, x, etc. She knew she wouldn't pass, so she had a clean friend of hers pee into a tylenol bottle. She covered the top of the bottle with tin foil and then, um, stuck it up there. When she had to pee she just poked the tin foil with her finger. One of the weirdest stories any of my friends has ever told me. She went on to be a Pro Bowl Cheerleader for the Seattle Seahawks.

I had another friend who was joining the Navy, and at a going away party unbeknownst to him someone put a little bit of weed in a hookah that everyone was smoking tobacco from. When he went into meet with his recruiter guy, his test came up barely positive for marijuana. He was also still a little over what they wanted him to weigh. They told him not to eat anything to cut weight, but to drink lots of cranberry juice to clean his system. When he got to MEPS (where they do all the tests and stuff) he had to fart, and when he farted, he "sharted" cranberry juice. He looks at his reflection and sees that he has a big red spot right on his ass. He had to leave his back pack with his change of clothes in another area because of clearance, so he had to go and talk to the female MP and explain to her that he needed to go get a change of clothes, because he basically shit his pants. He passed, and now he's training to work on defense systems on boats.

Not much help, sorry. I think you'll be fine, I have a friend who I smoke with regularily and he's passed one in 3 days without doing anything crazy. Different places have different drug test requirements (Like most corporations don't set the bar at the same level Government employees face), so you can't really say for sure. what i did for my last test i had to take that i was worried about failing was......buy a cleansing drink from ur head shop but also go to walgreens and buy a home drug test kit, i think its like $20.

i drank the cleaner drink, and 1 tall glass of water after (you dont want to dilute your system too much or else u will piss clear and they might not be able to get a reading or think ur trying to hide something) then waited about 2 hours and then took the home test kit. that way you can test yourself for confidence of passing b4 u even go take the legit test.

my drink was about $25 and kit was $20 so still under $50 for peice of mind.

Well it takes a couple days to get the results, so yeah you could use it to stall. If mine comes back too diluted, then Ill have to buy another fucking $50 drink.

Oh so the detox drinks don't detox you necessarily. They just make it so that whatever you do pee out gets masked by the contents of the drink. Once you pee the drink out, you go back to failing drug tests (bc there is no more masking agent in your pee)?

While I agree there are some serious double standards between alcohol and drugs in our society, the fact is those double standards are in place and everyone should know the rules of the game by now.

I've done about 10 drug tests as pre-screens for various jobs in all sorts of industries. Whether it seemed to have an impact on the job at hand or not never really mattered.

I go to work everyday, I'm never late, I do my job very well, I'm the only one in the company that does my job, I get along with everyone, I save the company thousands of dollars a month, I dont operate heavy machinery, I dont drive company cars. What the fuck does it matter if I smoke weed sometimes?

Money/Health insurance is one big driver. Insurance Co. says to Your Co., "oh hai if you drug test your premiums are $1m less per year". Your Co. does not then say "oh but come on he gets along well with others".

None of the firms I have worked for (nor my current firm) have ever subjected its employees to drug tests. I think its because all of the managing partners and the associates like to party.

If they notice an irregularity (such as the substance you drank), the test will fail automatically... unless they ignore it. That shit is like a red flag. That being said, have a plan "b" because more likely you'll fail it. Like someone said, ask for help or w/e.

Short answer: You're fucked, ask for help + start looking for a new job.
