I can't wait to see this movie. Looking forward to it more than any other summer movie. Although after Terminator I have no idea what other big movies are coming out. This seems like good good stuff.

Such a great movie for non Trekkies too. I loved it, and I've only seen First Contact and Wrath of Khan about a few months ago. I'm sure there's some nitpicky fans that just want to bitch and moan about how they ruined the series. Oh wait, I saw some girl doing just that yelling in the parking lot while I was trying to get into the theater.

Spoiler: show
I have tickets for the Norwegian premiere tonight, less than 12 hours to go!
*unleashes the inner geek*
.D
I saw it last night and I agree. One of the best Star Trek movies evar! Right up there with Wrath of Khan. It's a great movie even if you are a Star Trek noob.
I'm see this tonight. Wrath of Khan is my favorite, so I'll see if it is better than that!
btw its not an ancestor of picard because he himself says that he was the first picard to go into space and his family was upset that he choose starfleet.
I never realized Spock was a badass. He was pwning people it was great.
Yes, because since there is two bald men in space they MUST BE ancestors.
Not a huge Trek fan and saw it last night, had a pretty good time. I think it'll do very well. Movie needed more Simon Pegg!
Had a question for Trekkie fans...
Spoiler: show
No, they don't. But Kirk and Uhura do, grantedly, it was under the forced influence of some powerful creatures.
If memory serves, it was the first interracial kiss on cable television (or was it in syndication, I could never keep those straight..)
edit: disclaimer: It's been forever and I might have forgotten
edit2: less than 5 hours!!!!!
Screw cable, that shit was on broadcast TV baby, NBC aired the show way back then.
Saw the movie w/ a friend last night and we both thought it was very good. Was a bit odd see'ing everything rebooted of sorts, new ppl playing old characters.. but it was done very well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the story of how they all came together more entertaining then the Romulan focus, but both were well put together and enjoyable. Also thought the humor was well played and not forced
saw it with my dad who was an old school star trek guy, saw it on tv as it was coming out. he enjoyed it so much it was one of the first times he wanted to see a movie again. (he did make me see transformers a second time when we saw it)
Just noticed as I rescanned the thread![]()
scotty and chekov were fucking so good in this movie, the humor from both was perfect and suiting for both characters
before i saw the movie my bro and i discussed how they were going to fit chekov in because he was already so young in TOS, the writing placed him in perfect and made it almost seamless
sulu was kinda ok, i wasnt super impressed with him but i wasn't disgusted either so im happy
kirk awesome
spock awesome (minus the scene at the end with both of them)
uhura also awesome - the spock relationship was kinda weird but w/e
favorites:
opening scene with cameron was awesome
scene with kirk as a preteen was awesome
bar fight/scene awesome
who am i kidding i think the whole movie was fucking amazing not one thing i can really find even close to meh except the spock/spock scene but even that wasn't horrible so its cool
Looks like JJ Abrams and his crew have been signed up for a Sequel.
Yay!
