An Evening with the DSO and Final Fantasy

I'm guessing this would be a good place to put this post. I'm not sure how many of you live in and or around the Dallas TX area, but below is a link for what should be a pretty cool event coming up in June.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra: Listen, Buy Tickets, Plan Your Visit

If people are interested, i'm not sure I want to head getting tickets for everyone because I can't get a discount or anything like that, but i'm sure it would be fun to have an area at the Meyerson Theater we could meet before and after and hang out etc (kinda like it was at Video Games Live a couple years ago).

Edit: If you don't live in the Dallas Area, i'm guessing that this probably isn't the only venue that will be showcasing Nobuo Uematsu's music, so take a look in a city near where you live for the Orchestra there and see if they have anything like this planned. I got a flier in the mail telling me about this, or i'd not have known about it. I was on their list from ordering tickets to Video Games Live a few years ago.

It's coming to Seattle in July - they have a meet/greet with Uematsu for 100 bucks extra up here.

I'm in Houston, but Dallas is a quick 3 hour drive north, and I have family living there. I just MIGHT do this....even though I hate Dallas with a passion.

Respect the musicians and dress accordingly. In terms of accomplishment, making it into a symphony orchestra is like getting into the starting lineup of a major league team. It's nothing like as well paid as the NFL, and there's a lot of love for the music and sacrifice goes into it. The concert master (leader of the first violins) may have had to pay more for that violin than he earns in a year.

The dreaded "business casual" should be fine. AF gear, probably not, except for some of the mage stuff. Purple dragoons, SAMs, DRKs, and PLDs etc will probably have to check weapons.

There is some etiquette. The odd one is no applause between movements of a multi-movement work (like a symphony or concerto). Enjoy the music and allow those around you to enjoy it too, and let the orchestra know you enjoyed what they offered you.

I need to find out if I'm in town...definitely interested in this. Went to a show in Chicago back when I was in school and loved it -- definitely want to go again.

For dress code: me and my friends dressed somewhat nice, but there were a handful in cosplay and some just dressed casual. Don't know if DSO will do anything different.

EDIT: Should note that this date is Father's Day -- so be forewarned.
