This. Will. Not. Work.
No just NO just NOOOOO. I bet if it did happen they'll be mechanical.
Guys, don't worry, this will turn out to be great I'm sure.
Oh wait....
...nevermind.The screenplay for the Shadow of the Colossusfeature is reported to be penned by Justin Marks. He's the same man responsible for the not-so-great Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, if that rings any bells.
Sony is 6 days late.
this can't end well.
A movie for this could be really fucking good, if done PERFECTLY, but with a staff like that I have no hope at all. Then again, with a story/environment this fanciful, I don't think we have the technology to pull off the scenes to do it justice. Might be best done in an Advent Children style.
pls god dont bastardize this. with all the horror and injustice in the world i dont think i cant take it
/linkinpark
hahahahahaha ha ha sniff sniff ha its so bawwwwwwwww
Oh god, I know I'll have such high hopes for this movie, and then surely I'll be horribly disappointed.
I shall begin an online petition for Uwe Boll to take command of this project. Let it begin.
I was hoping for a new game when I clicked this. =(
I don't see how a movie like this would work at all. The director just makes it worse
At least it won't be a surprise when ANOTHER video game movie sucks. Wouldn't wanna offset the universe or anything. Crisis averted.
but SotC is not "just another video game" its fucking art, a study of minimalism and moral dualities.
This is my second favorite video game of all time. If they were to do this they would have to a) change it COMPLETELY or b) leave it the same, and it still wouldn't be a good movie. The game is so calming and epic at the same time, and the story, while good, isn't of very epic proportion. I mean, when it comes down to it, he has to kill the Colossi or his girlfriend is going to die. Wanderer is practically the only character for 95% of the game too (aside from Agro), and he never speaks, so whatever dialogue they choose to go with will be stupid and seem so out of place.
I think that seeing a movie version of the Colossi could be very cool, but I have a feeling that they're going to completely disgrace the game with a film adaptation. QQ
We were discussing this on our LS forums.. and ya, SotC just doesn't fit the characteristics of a movie. I mean, it doesn't even have a story (not really). What earned so much acclaim was how unique the gameplay was, and how they managed to essentially make an immersive experience with essentially 4 characters (1 dead and 1 a horse), almost no conversation, and a beautiful world.
If they go for an artistic style, maybe, but it's from Sony, not an independent studio so they're just gonna try to make the most money on it (which means explosions and special effects), and the whole street fighter writer disaster just ruins any hope I might have...
bleh, I always thought SOTC would make a sweet Miyazaki film.
This is how I feel about the idea of an SoTC movie.
