Food meds, situational shit, and most importantly of all. leave at least 40 spaces open for pure farming purposes. Filling up my invo too fast has always been the main thing holding me back when i farm.
Don't get your hopes up, I really don't think it'll allow you to macro directly from mog satchel. It's going to be like the mog house, where when you open the inventory it'll be two windows, one of which is your inventory, the other the satchel which you can transfer stuff between them one by one. Only different to mog house is that you'll see both windows everywhere.
If it allowed direct macro access, that means that the amount of "items loaded in memory" or whatever is over 80, which is beyond "PS2 limitations". That's why we've been given chunks of no more than 80 spaces at a time, 2 of which can be accessed at the same time, only 1 of which is macro-able. I doubt the satchel is going to magically change how things work.
I thought this for a long time; Aikar's work indicates otherwise. The game loads a lot more into memory than expected. The issue in my mind is not whether the items are hot-swappable so long as the Satchel has functional usability. I hope that even if Satchel items are not macro-loadable we can use consumables from there without moving them to Gobbiebag slots. That would include Ninja tools, too.
Arthars is always stealing the words out of my mouth!![]()
All obis, all teleport rings
80+ fucking soul plates at a time for the win
Wasn't there talk/is a windower plugin that changed your gear from mog safe to your inventory and back whenever you switched jobs?
edit: erm whoops, delete this please
Colibri beaks & -1 Mamool Gear.
Emp Band, Tav Ring, Food, Obis, Status Removals Items, Hi Ether Tank, Silent Oils, Prisms, picture taking stuff, MMMazes, Shared Gear (as someone said), Sprinter's, Powder Boots, RANDOM ASS CRAP![]()
If you can't macro directly from Satchel (as I expect you won't) then I hope you can at least switch faster than Safe > Bag, and possibly several items at a time. Otherwise, carrying another job's worth of gear won't be any faster if you still have to switch all your stuff from Satchel to Bag, and you still have to go to MH to change jobs anyway, so it could be that it won't save you anything at all. At the very least, the function of carrying it around with you will be largely wasted.
If that is the case, then it will only really be good for Meds/foods, Warps/Tele items, Charged items, situational gear, and extra space for drops assuming you take the time to switch em over periodically (or have a way to default them to Satchel). That may sound like a lot, but not everyone carries much of this sort of stuff.
Hopefully you will at least be able to use consumables/Enchanted stuff from the Satchel. If so, then it will certainly be a godsend for Crafters.
Ideally, you will be able to access both freely whether it be by macro or manual or whatever, but I would settle for being able to switch the Status of the bags on the fly. i.e. trade your Satchel for your Bag regarding which is your main inventory.
Remember though that you would have to strip all of your gear off before you could switch em (or maybe it would do it automatically), and if any of your gear is shared between the first and second set then you would still have to switch it over manually (unless they somehow arranged customizable preferences that "Reserved" spaces in one or the other, but this is hoping for way too much probably).
Also this idea isn't completely original. "Jobbie Bags", as I think the term was coined, were mentioned in a Q&A Interview a while back and they said they would look into it. It's really the only reason I consider it a possibility.
I'm assuming we can't equip swap from the mog satchel so things like warp sticks, signet staves, silent oil/powder, reraise, food, sky pop items, linkpearls for events only, highly situational gear like obis will go in there.
Who am I kidding? It's like the first law of women's handbags - the amount of crap you carry around will expand to fill all available space in a handbag.
The sad thing is. We will fill these up within a month with stuff we "can't" throw away. Really now. stop saving those 9 silk threads cuz your waiting for a stack.
More meds (I already carry around at least 3-4 stacks of food, 2 echos, 2 stacks of toolbags of shihei; would carry around IWings, more stacks of powders/oils/shinobi-tabi/sanjaku-tenugui, poison pots, sleep pots, even more food [especially for bird parties, gogo bringing 10 stacks of food!], andtidotes, more echos) then RR, RR, maybe some more RR - oh, did I say RR yet? Oh and Warp Cudgels, maybe 5 or 6 more, if possible. Then situtational gear (ie. different BLU spell sets, etc). And who knows, maybe sometime in the future I won't have to mule to get my fishing gear/mats to make ammo/other stuff.
This will likely be the situation for me as well. I'll keep situational stuff in there like:
Pld resist gear, Warp Club/Teleport Rings, Charm Wand, Tool Bags, Crafting Gear and the like.
It'll be nice to have my delivery box cleared out instead of having to cycle through it for various things I don't use often. (like weapon/armor upgrades to jobs I'm leveling)
I would carry my gear for brd and any meds/syth items that i will need.
zeni soul plates!!!!!!!
My Mog Satchel is reserved for stuffing my Moogle into when he doesn't perform as I demand... sexually. Then I will swing him (inside of the satchel) into a wall repeatedly until he ceases to struggle. While he is unconcsious, I will board the airship. When the craft is over the mountains somewhere, I will tie the Mog Satchel up with cord and toss his battered body over the side. As he falls to his inevitable doom, I will laugh maniacally.
Or I might just use to to store some shit.
