Desynthing: How do you do it w/ 90%+ success rate?

I don't really have anything solid as far as desynthing is concerned except that there seems to be a 50% or so break rate on it. There are days where I've gone 13/14 successes but other days I've gone 0/8. If there is a trick to it, it definately doesn't follow any of the rules that synthing does.

In my experience, its totally random. You can get on a very lucky streak (like getting HQ 6-8 cotton thread per goblin armour and only breaking 1 of 20 armours) and then the very next day you'll go 5/20 on them, with 15 of those breaks and losing armour. I've mapped out moon phase, Day vs Crystal and it was hours of useless data collecting because it came out that it was totally random.

you need a tough stomach for mass desynthing, I couldn't do what the cerb mantle ppl did in those SSs

On my crafting mule I did a lot of desynthing for gil as I lvled her. Stuck 40 tarutaru stools in her mog. Definitely seemed to help. Makes me sad when I think about it, I used to whore out those angel stones from desynthing angel flutes until they caught that and patched it. :/

Around ~50% with Moghancement Desynth, otherwise around 33%. (Total success only)
Rates are from my empirical data.

In short, you can't get 90+%.

my experience is as follows:

desynthed silver earrings, a lvl 22 GS synth, with gold lvl 55+1+3 assist, put me in the tier 2 i believe for HQs. also had overwhelming moghancement: Desynth (61+ Tarutaru Stools)

i did the same amount of desynths every run, 120. did this 2-3 times a day, for 3-4 months during the peak of gil inflation, when i could farm 10 clusters in an hour, and start synthing. the vanadiel day of the week didnt seem to have any influence, nor did the direction i faced. average results were as follows:

Attempts: 120
Breaks: ~50 (41.6%)
Critical Break (item loss) ~25 (20.8%)
Success Rate : ~70 (58.4%)
HQ Rate (2 ingots) ~25 (20.8%)

total synths done: 120
average ingot yield: ~96 (8 stacks)
actual success rate: ~80%

now, keep in mind, that was with a tier 2 synth, as well as overwhelming desynth power. there were some days i did 20 successes in a row, other times i broke 30 times in a row,. i dare not have tried this on something high in value. these, to me, are reliable averages. like i said, i was doing 120 synths per run, 2-3 times a day, 4-5 days a week for about 3-1/2 to 4 months. at minimum (240 synths a day, 4 days a week, for 3 months, thats over 11k total synths.

Was this profitable? at the time, yes. i was making a stack for around 18k, and selling for 75k, occasionally upwards of 100k.

Dont think there are tiers for desynth. You get a lot of HQs even if you are right at the level.

I've been taking tracks of gigas socks desynth w/o maghancement desynth and it was 60% ish success, not counting the times where you only lose the crystal (500 desynth)
