Sold more copies in one day than the 360 version did in its opening month, and has already almost surpassed the 360's lifetime sales, yikes, hopefully this will encourage even more to bring it to the west.

I would love for this to come over, this is not only imo the best HD jRPG yet this gen, but also one of the best traditional jRPGs in years. More people should be playing it, Tales as a series seems underrated to me when you consider how good the main entries are. This hasn't been announced yet for stateside though? I wonder why...

That said, I totally understand why Julian is annoyed. It makes total business sense to "remake" the game so that people are tempted to buy it instead of trying to sell a full priced port beside the discounted/used original's copies, but they should at least offer us DLC so we can enjoy it also. I mean, we are the reason it sold in the first place. And I want an onscreen/puppy Repede in my version.

I know you said main entries, but this series still had some awful or generic games. Quality seem to varies a lot from game to game. The best one usually received the credit they deserved though (Destiny, Abyss, vesperia..).

A part of Sony's policy if they're going to bring ports from other consoles a considerable amount of time after it was released, is exclusive DLC to tempt people to buy it at full price. So I don't think you will be seeing this as DLC for Xbox.

I don't see why they would have bothered making it 360 exclusive to begin with if whatever moneyhats they got from MS just went to making the extra content for the PS3. The engine is the most expensive part, but adding a character like Patty and her ridiculous Hi-Ougi had to take a little work, not to mention a playable Flynn. I doubt they lost money, but it still seems like a huge waste of time not just releasing them both at once.

Yea, most of the crappy ones get left in Japan (and a few of the really good ones too, unfortunately). The worst one I can think of ratings-wise was the ToS2 Wii game, and that wasn't even bad, just average. There have been many series that are more popular here with much worse entries ported over (FF, RE, Pokemon, you name it). Yet, I believe the highest selling entry in the series stateside was the Gamecube game, even though the PS1, PS2, 360 and now PS3 have main entries...

Because MS paid for that period of exclusivity. In return for helping with development costs, they get a long period of exclusivity over the other platforms. Games very rarely stay exclusive to a platform unless they are second or first parties. Whether or not japanese developers are abusing this system has been brought up recently, but looking at PS3 version of Vesperia's sales, it seems to be working for them.

I don't want to start an argument about FF here, but generally (excluding a few ports), they give us quality games. It's not like they don't put any effort in the game, even if the end result doesn't please everyone.

Comparing a series to another that reached the status of mainstream is always risky. FF is obviously not 8 times better than a Tales game, even if it sell 8 times more. However, I wouldnt say that Tales games are underrated just because they didn't reach the same status. They are commercial success as far as I know, and the good one are praised by the community...it's not so bad.


Games like pokemon that have very little production value on the other hand deserve to get trashed.

It could do well, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. It really deserves the sales, but with a few exceptions 360 users to tend to buy more games than any other userbase I can think of, especially when compared to the PS3. I'm not sure if it's the bigger userbase or the PS3 people that buy it just for Blurays or what.

Special event battle added to the PS3 version. As you can tell from the fact that Don is 3x your level, you're not supposed to win. It's technically possible to but all you get is a Diamond (which you can get elsewhere anyway), so I didn't really bother.

Apparently its more than fan service, but how she learns Indignation. Cast Thunder Blade 200 times, Fight Dhoas in 200 man melee, get him lower than 1/2 HP, OVL 4, cast Thunder Blade. She'll use Indignation instead and from there on out she can use it during OVL 4, pressing X+O after an arcane art.

For Estelle's Ultimate Elements, she has to have used all her Burst Arts (save the joke one) 50 times. Then OVL 4 and X+O after an arcane art.
