ACP Mission Thread

Won in 24 minutes using the following setup:

SAM/RNG(RA crystal and saving tp for seed pops)
WHM/Forgot
SMN/WHM(SMN were main DD both of which using predator claws every chance they got)
SMN/WHM
PLD/DRK(stunning -ga)
BRD/WHM

At start BRD 2hr ballad'd the mages so that MP wouldn't be an issue until at least the very end of the time. Problems only occurred when PLD got charmed which resulted in me(SAM/RNG) or WHM if he just used a high cure taking hate.

Quoting from a few pages ago since couldn't post in advanced and I was in this run.

2-3 min Buffs + 1 min fight with 4 x MNK, RDM/Drk and BRD.
All 2 hour at start. Hundred Fists x 4 while CS Stun.

The total time spent in the fight (I sigged it since I got the kill shot) doesn't even represent how fast you could do this. I forgot to get the cutscene, so most of that time was me sitting around watching it.

Strategy was fairly simple MNK zerg. Spend a minute or two boosting for Chi Blast, spam JAs, eat an Icarus Wing, meat, pop Asuran, drop the crystal from full to dead in about a minute. I never saw a single add. It was fairly suicidal, and myself and at least one of the other MNKs would've died if the crystal meleed again (I was at about 120 HP when I killed it), possibly a wipe with more Seed of Judgement spam. Extremely fun, though. I'd do it again if I had the patience for another level 30 Delkfutt's climb right now.

I'm a very middle-of-the-road MNK, not gimped but nothing noteworthy about my gear, and I was doing pretty good damage to the crystal, so I don't know why I've been reading a lot of "SMN and RNG only" nonsense. Accuracy would've been a joke even without Focus, and I was hitting it 80-100 damage or so per fist. Asuran at the start did about 550 if I remember, and it knocked me out of range right as I readied it the second time.

Now I just have to decide what I want my Mirke to have and I'm done with this mini-expansion. Ebon Key spat out an Angelstone, so I even turned a tidy profit.

Just FYI: You don't need to climb the tower again to participate in the BC unless you want to acquire a new body.

Just went 1/1 on this
Setup was: RNG RNG WAR WHM PLD BLM.

BLM stunned the Ga spells, PLD just kept it's attention, like in the other strats. RNGs unloaded on the NM, WHM healed and WAR (me :3) controlled the seed thralls.


Notes: WAR/NIN with 2 axes can use it's TP to mistral axe the NM for extra damage, mine hit for around 300ish.

Devotion was used once the PLD ran out of MP

WHM was subbed SCH and was constantly tapping into sublimation, meaning alot of MP was used, so /SCH is VERY helpful.

Finally won the Final BC fuck it was hard lost 3 times with NA but won 4th run with JP

War/DRK (Tank lol)
RNG/WAR
WHM/SCH

the Fight started out very easy until 30% he kept doing the copy ability we had by the end 6 on us i didn't think that's even possible but WAR/DRK was amazing tank far better than PLD and stun was a plus and non of stuns got resisted even at low HP

Oh, and we won with like 2 minutes to spare, the SMN d/c for like the first 5 minutes, and FFXI shut down on me because of a display driver error or something.

Point is I can't fraps or any other program to record at high resolutions with slowing my FPS down a good 10-15 FPS. Especially with a high CPU dependent game like FFXI.

Unless your computer is ancient, the likely culprit behind FRAPS' FPS drop is hard drive usage. Running FFXI and FRAPS on the same drive might cripple your FPS, but if you had a second HD, even a standard external USB HD, you should be able to minimize your loss.

If any of you are familiar with Niconico, there's a video up of a PT winning with this setup:

DRG/WAR, DRK, MNK, RDM, BRD, WHM

Basically, the DRG was the only job actually fighting the crystal. He would fight without being locked on to make it easy to run away from certain attacks. Just from looking, I could tell that he was wearing Skystrider, Crimson Cuisses, Fourth Schuhs, Turban, and the ACP body. His Drakesbanes ranged from 198 to 1085 on the boss.

So while the DRG was killing the boss, the DRK and MNK would kill the clones. The PT was also able to stun all -ga's and keep the DRG's HP up after each Seed of Judgment. Cleartime was 19:25.

How exactly do you go about redoing the missions for the keys? Do you just... go out and start killing stuff again? or have to get a CS, talk to an NPC?

edit: Well I guess you keep those goblin key items, so I just had to run and could pop the NMs already.
edit2: I knew about the goblin in port jeuno, but didnt really know how he worked until now. I had the goblin key items left over from the previous run through of the missions, turned those in for a key, and then I think I have to wait a day before I can pop the mandys? I also got the seed drops from the 3 beastmens.
