Please Help***Unfamiliar with 360

Ok so I am home for the next five days, and I am already bored as shit.
I have Xbox 360 with ffxi, and I put it in for the first time in a long long time. My friend has his ID Linked to my main Gamertag, so I understand that I can't play on that. I made like 3 new profiles, and signed up for a free month of Live, then tried to Link my ID to the gamertag and I still failed.

I have no idea what the hell to do, and it makes no sense at all. I uninstalled playonline and am re-installing it now.

Any tips? Advice?

Yeah, I uninstalled and then re-installed. Still didn't work.

Why the hell would they ever do this? Can only log onto 1 playonline ID with 1 gamertag/membership.
Has to be the stupidest thing FFXi/SE/Xbox/Playonline has ever done.

looks like you might have to get your friends gamertag info and recover it onto your xbox every time :/
maybe if you call SE or something they might be able to unlink it, i dunno

Why would I link someone else's account to my gamertag? I played on my PC and never planned on playing on the 360. My friend bought a copy with his own money to play ffxi with me and just put his information in when it asked him to so now it's linked. Either way I made new profiles, applied for new memberships, and it still doesn't work.
