Electronic Cigarettes - Anyone tried them?

This seems like the right section - even if it's an odd tech question!
In Michigan it's just too damn expensive to smoke anymore thanks to new taxes, so I have been looking into alternatives. Quitting is an option but I honestly just don't want to, I have before for months on end with out any issues other than I still enjoyed smoking so I started again.

So has anyone here tried these new types of cigarettes or know anyone who has? They are kind of expensive to purchase in the beginning for the actual "cigarette" itself but after that the refill cartridges are pretty affordable and seem to last for quite a long time. I'd just like to get someone's first hand opinion on them before spending my own money, reviews online often times seem biased and people here really have nothing to gain from steering me in the wrong direction, thanks.

I've heard about them, but never actually seen one. Seems like a cool concept, but they make non-electronic smokes that do the same thing.
