Interestingly enough, if one believes homosexuality innate, then one just thinks that there's a set amount of gay people in the world who are either out or in the closet, which refutes the idea of homosexuality spreading, so therefore one can see why lots of gays would want to believe that homosexuality is innate, while if you believe it is a choice or something similar than one can believe that one can come under sufficient suggestion to come to believe that being gay isn't wrong, and therefore "choose" it.

It is interesting to see how convenient beliefs are in this issue.

This country is shit because of people with too open of minds as well. Anyone who supports same sex marriage is close minded with a different opinion. I personally am in the "don't give a fuck" crowd. I won't vote on anything to do with gay people because it doesn't affect me in the slightest, am I part of the problem too?

There is the potential for "latent" gay people (the kind so repressed they won't admit their sexuality to themselves*) to start feeling comfortable enough to begin acting on once hidden urges. This could be viewed as spreading homosexuality, especially considering you often hear "hate the sin, not the sinner" from the kind of people who make ads like this.

DC is close to passing a measure to allow gay marriage and I hope every state does.

DC has passed a bill that would recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. Which means DC residents could go up to VT, which doesn't have a residency requirement for marriage, get hitched, and then be recognized as married back in DC. Unfortunately, Congress has to approve just about everything DC does, so some schmuck from Oklahoma could vote against it. All the more reason for DC autonomy, dammit.

The DC Council approved it unanimously. It'll pass the second vote in May and Mayor Fenty has said that he approves, so it won't be the religitards in DC that'll stop it, it'll be the religitards on the other side of the country who will impose their wills on a region far removed from their homes.

I don't think it is either.

I don't think there is a switch that gets flipped somewhere that makes someone be gay or straight. Outside of the sexually deviant, no one is attracted to all males or all females. My opinion is that we have psychological needs that express themselves. Perfect example is how an abused woman will leave her abusive partner for someone even more abusive almost every time because deep down inside that type of person is meeting some sort of psychological need.
