I understand that you're trolling as you always do, and not actually trying to add anything to the conversation, but you do bring up a good point. Obviously things like marrying little children and marrying dogs will always be illegal, but once gay marriage becomes legalized across the country, what's to stop polygamy or two cousins marrying each other? Will the people who support gay marriage extend the freedoms that they fought so hard for towards people they may not agree with?

I never understood people thinking they can just legislate away homosexuality under the guise of protecting marriage.

Anyone want to get gaymarried to a nice Jewish boy in NJ?

It's pretty easy to make a case against allowing marriages between those who share a lot of chromosomes.

I don't know a lot about polygamy. The last time I looked in the news for it though I saw a lot of societies where it's more an exercise of male domination over women than a matter of people just trying to find love. Maybe there is a 'good' to polygamy but it's not exactly up my alley and it doesn't make enough headlines for me to have a very informed opinion about it.

Only if one of the conditions of marriage is to procreate, and that's not the case in this country. And I don't see a reason to not let siblings be able to extend legal protections over each other if they live together or if one is taking care of another. Commonlaw marriages for all!

Polyamory is a tricky situation that current models of marriage aren't designed to deal with. Some people can be in love with more than one person at a time and want to be able to take care of everyone. If all of the partners consent and agree to enter a mutually beneficial arrangement where they're all responsible for each other, then they should be able to, it would just require massive restructuring of marriage laws so individuals can't just keep racking up spouses to accrue the benefits. I don't have a good solution to this, though.

Cousins already can marry each other in some states.

Your question is valid, and I don't know the answer. I think, though, that since the central theme of the equal marriage battle is that people in love should be offered the legal protections, benefits, and responsibilities to take care of each other regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity, so as long as a particular relationship is consensual and real, then it should be honored and recognized. But like I said above, current marriage laws aren't equipped to deal with relationships between more than two people, so it'd require massive restructuring.

Marrige serves no real purpose today outside of the legal bonus, so really there should be no restriction on who gets them if they are happy. Of course taking advantage of the system would have to be stops in some way I guess.

From a Christian's standpoint, so what if it isn't what they believe in, as long as it is not you doing it you don't go to hell by the christian religion so who gives a shit? I am christian and I couldn't care less. As long as someone is happy fine by me just pls don't share.

Anything two consenting adults do in their own home is their own issue. As for benefits, as long as people aren't committing fraud, what does it matter?

Canada dealt with Gay marriage legally 40 years ago, as I've said before, way to fail America. Right now we're dealing with Polygamy as a religious choice, which is going to be interesting.

(PS: Heinlein got it right when it comes to family structure.)

Faith groups losing gay rights fights - Washington Post- msnbc.com

I don't get it.. why would you want someone to photograph your wedding that wasn't really interested? I remember when I got married the first preacher we picked wouldn't do the ceremony because we were young so we simply found someone else.

Why would someone want to see a psychologist that isn't interested in helping them? You would want one that you connected with and there is no way someone has been taught their entire lives that your lifestyle is a sin is going to be helpful. I don't know if you guys have looked in the phone book, but there are like a shitload of shrinks out there and if you were a gay couple you would want to find someone who has experience with that, not force some christian shrink to help you.
