You're gonna have to try harder than that.

I think it is rather pointless to defend the concept of marriage with people from other cultures. Western sexuality, gender roles, and social identity are vastly different than those in the Middle East. Each culture views them differently.

America, Canada, and (at least) northern Europe, no longer view wives as "managers of the home". Gender roles such as those are now viewed as gender stereotypes. It is common for men to stay home and raise the child while the mother works. Why? Because it is often the case that women have equal or greater education than their husbands and are able to bring home more money than the husband would. It is also common for both parents to work (dual-income household) after the first year from birth. I work with numerous female attorneys who had their child, took maternity leave for six months, then promptly returned to the world of law (and some would take breaks to breast pump their milk for later use.)

Marriage has lost its gender roles which in turn has androgenized the labels of husband and wife. They're both meaningless now and can be substituted for the unisex term of "spouse". Because of the fact that "marriage" and its gender roles are now undefined or ambiguous, it can be seen as pointless to assume that two men or two woman can't raise a child successfully. What is better? Two full-time working parents (male/female) or two full-time working parents (male/male)? Both families will be producing two salaries, and neither family has what is "traditionally" or "stereotypically" seen as the "mother". Instead, the child now just has two parents who are able to take on both the role of father/husband and mother/wife. (Which is why those terms are now meaningless due to the adrongenous reality of the fact.)

Do people in the Middle East view marriage the same way? The role of the father, and the mother? If not, it is hard to argue the case of marriage between two men or two women, when the society has yet to modernize (androngenize) their gender roles. Once gender roles disintegrate and merge into a singular role, a role that changes at will to suit its needs, then it becomes vastly easier to argue the case of love between two people of the same sex. Because at this point, why does it matter? It no longer matters, and this is why homosexual marriage is becoming more common.

Marriage, by the way, is not just about sex. It is also about love and committment. All three of those things are forms of intimacy, and intimacy is what marriage is about. In addition, homosexual couples don't all engage in anal sex. That is a stereotype perpetuate by pornography. Yes, many gay men have anal sex. There are many who do not as they don't like it or whatever their reasons, and instead engage in more traditional sexual activities such as the handjob or blowjob.

So, you'll have to pardon me for aknowledging your views of marriage, sex, and gender roles as archaic as you live in a society that while modernized (industry), has yet to catch up socially to the modern world.

I think it is an important distinction at least in U.S.A. to add legal rights to the list of what marriage is about.

    Supplemental Addendum:

In addition, the reason many single parent hoseholds are stereotyped as unsuitable to raise a child, is because many single parents don't have money. In fact, many don't have proper educations, as they got knocked up at a young age and weren't smart enough to abort it (or weren't able to for whatever reason.) This forces them into a life where it is almost impossible to earn a high enough wage to take care of themselves, let alone a child.

However, people should remember that not all single parents are teenagers or without full educations and careers. For example, is it unsuitable for me, a single male, to have a son, where I work during the day, and lets say my mother looks after my son while I work (she is retired)? Because, while I could afford daycare, I also have my loving mother. My son would get female attention. And then for schooling, ect. I can afford private schools, after school extracurricular activities, tutors, ect.

Would I be considered a bad parent? Doubtful. Would my son receive an unsatisfactory upbringing? Doubtful. Would I prefer to raise my son with a husband? Yes, I would prefer to raise my son in a household with two parents. Is it bad that he won't? I don't think so, as I know many highly succesfull people who were raised with 1 parent or no parents.

Education, career, family, love, and MONEY. These are the things that matter (IMHO).

(BTW, I don't have a son. I wasn't sure if it was clear that this was hypothetical.)

If I had interest I am sure I could manage. Judging by the quality of men I currently date, and assuming that quality level would transfer over to women. I feel confident that I would be very successfull in my endeavors.

Eeww, no way. I'd have to... go near those cavernous maws. Although, a few of the Japanese girls who instruct some of my classes are really adorable and usually eager to chit chat with me. Their CMs don't seem so scary.

Japanese girls are the worst. Why do you think so much vagina dentata and tentacles porns come from Japan?
