Hey all. Pretty much the same story with me...played FFXI for 5 years, stopped, tried FFXIV 1.0, didn't care for it, tried FFXIV 2.0 beta, started playing again.
(And yes, I know I have no avatar or sig yet...I'm on the work computer right now.)
