FFXIV is the first MMO I have ever truly gotten into and man is it a lot of fun but damn have I put so much time into it. Just last night my static finally beat T8. Also, not sure where to post this but how does one add their FFXIV information? Like server, name and what not?

Played EverQuest and FFXI very poorly, played WoW slightly better. Realized that WoW ruined my life.

Got my life back together, now doing much better. Now playing FFXIV. Still up in the air as to what degree of skill.

Hello, my name is Alphadeus.

I have been reading these forums for a long time, and discovered the wiki a while ago. I recently got back into FFXI during the free period in December last year, and other than 1 or 2 months where I couldn't afford the sub, I've been playing ever since. I also play Final Fantasy XIV.

I started playing FFXI the Christmas of the year it was released for PC (I think 2003?). I had a friend on Ragnarok that was able to get me on via world pass. I started out as a Warrior, met some amazing people, and played on and off since then. I was pretty casual with the game, even though I put in quite a few days of playtime. It took a while to get to 75 with Warrior, and even then, I had trouble getting my subjobs up to 37. Even though it was fairly tedious, and I spent a great deal of time looking for group, I enjoyed it, because of the people I've met.

I think I became really interested in the game when ToAU came out, and I unlocked Blue Mage. I'm fond of the classes that "use the enemy abilities against them"-type characters. I was also pretty bad at making gil, and going out and learning my spells, instead of having to buy them, was also a nice aspect. I'm currently a level 99 Blue Mage with all non-HNM spells (and maybe 3 HNM spells). It's my only job at 99. I have a 91 Warrior, but I haven't found a decent non-Abyssea way of gaining experience, and even then, I just enjoy Blue Mage more because of all the spells and flexibility. I would like to get more jobs to 99.

Since most of my friends stopped playing XI, I've been soloing older content, while also farming sparks to upgrade my gear to i119. I mainly keep to myself, and since Blue Mage doesn't seem to be a desired job in a lot of the shouts I see, I haven't done any of the new battlefields yet. I'd like to give them a shot at some point.

On the FFXIV side, I tried the beta before 1.0 was released, but my computer couldn't run it, so I never really played it. When they announced A Realm Reborn, I had a better computer, and picked up XIV cheap on Amazon. I tried it again, but the interface and such confused me, and I waited until ARR beta, which I enjoyed a lot. I have a 50 Warrior, and 50 Bard, which is currently my main class (at i96). I also have my DoL and DoH at 50, because I love gathering materials, fishing, and I really love the crafting system, since it isn't just "hit OK and pray it doesn't fail". I don't play it much at the moment, but will definitely be back full-speed for 2.3.

FFXI is probably my favorite MMO, and all the recent quality-of-life changes are making it even better. I love Trust (I call it "Pocket Party"), Records of Eminence, and just exploring areas that used to scare me because of how strong the monsters were. There aren't too many places now that I don't feel safe wandering around, and I've been soloing missions (Zilart, CoP, Aht Urghan, working on WotG) to see all the stuff that I wasn't strong enough to see.

I could write more, but I feel like I could say more in specific topics ^^ I'm glad this one exists, and I don't mind that I have to post here first, since I wanted to make an introduction post. In FFXI, I'm Alphadeus on Ragnarok. I don't think I have a reputation of any sort, since I keep to myself. My mule is "Zars", and I seem to get mistaken for someone that has/had a character named "Zar" that was popular.

I write music for fun, but I didn't come here to spam. If there's a music thread, or a place to share original works, I'll keep it to that thread/area. That's about all there is to know about me. Take care.
