Yeah, I think I was mislead by the translated Japanese txt I saw. Well...if it comes to US PSN I'd buy it day 1.

I only ever got to play the Windows PC version. I'd love to play it again.

    When was 640x480 considered hi-res?
(main killer for 7 on PC for me back in the day was how the game halted for a good 10 seconds everytime an FMV was to be played, where-as those moments were seamless on the PSX)

If a PSX game is released on the PSN is there a way to get it on the PSP without going through a PS3 or do I have to have a PS3 to buy it and put it on my PSP? (or I guess I could ask a friend who has a ps3 to get it for me...)

As Darus mentioned, you can do it directly through PSN on the PSP (given your firmware is recent) , as well as the PC client for PSN. (would be a faster download via PC)

All that and they didn't even give the fans the one thing they actually asked for.

They didn't give that to the fans because then the fans might actually wake up to how unplayable FFVII is in the light of better next-gen games that aren't nearly fifteen years old.

I replayed 7 just a couple of months ago. It still holds up to every other turn based RPG these days in everything but graphics. I don't care for a remake but I wouldn't say no to it should they ever make it. Not sure where you're pulling this unplayable bullshit from.

If they were to remake it, I'd rather they do it in the same style of FFIV remake for DS, where the main game is kept as-is, but a fair amount of subtle changes/additions/adjustments are made.

I can't be arsed to play the same game again with just better graphics, I need more than that to justify a repurchase. Hell, a battle-mode revamp would be nice, get rid of random encounters and have it all happen on-set for example.

Personally I would play through the game as is again and even buy it again with nothing new except updated graphics.

FFIX was pretty good in graphic FFVIII could use some tweak, and I can see FFVII getting some decent facelift, graphic wise, but I doubt they would ultimately change the entire game. jsut the graphics.

That's like asking for full remake of FFVI which would never come ._. the best FF ever.

Everything that has been done in FFVII has been improved upon.

Playing old games with archaic mechanics and arbitrary game-lengtheners is cumbersome and boring, by comparison unplayably so.

Maybe some people just can't get enough Tetsuya Nomura designs...

A lot of things have been done and improved upon, it doesn't make them unplayable it just means you have some strange standards. Hell, people still buy and play the same type of games today with all the bells and whistles (just a little prettier is all).

I was never one of those "z0mg FF7 is best arr pee gee evar!" people. However, I got the bug to play through it again after playing Crisis Core on PSP a few months ago. It really is a great game. The mini games are really dated, and quite frankly suck IMO, but the rest of the game I still enjoyed, even by today's standards. I actually have more respect (if that's the right word) for the game now than I did back when it was new.

Edit: I'm actually playing FFX-2 right now. The mini-games in X-2 are just as horrible as they are in VII, and that's a generation later.

Edit to above. Chocobo racing to this day is one of my favorite minigames. I hated Blitzball and that card game was unbearable.

If it were merely a matter of graphics it wouldn't irk me so much to see as many clamoring for their HD remake of Kids With Weird Hair And Enormous Swords VII. Because I seem to have to spell it out, here's some of the crap in FFVII that won't play in 2009:

    1) Materia locked away in obscure places you can't revisit (sup W-Item)
    2) Pointless, unrewarding superbosses (yay low-stat golden chocobo for killing ruby weapon)
    3) Idiotic mandatory minigames (sup creaky floorboards leaving Aeris's house the first time, sup Bone Excavation).

I recognize this is all theoretically 'fixable' in an update but let's be serious, they're not about to take out the pointless grinding in a JRPG, so it's not a realistic hope that they'll fix them.

    1) True, the auction house system in Lost Odyssey was a nice workaround to this problem. I remember missing W-item on my first playthrough too, it's not essential to have it, but it's too annoying to not ever be able to get it through other means.
    2) Could just slap an achievement on it and call it a day. ;p
    3) Annoying, but so are quicktime events, which seem to be 'the way games have evolved'.

I don't really want a remake for VII either way, it's just weird that they haven't yet. They seem fine with milking it with spinoffs etc.
