After playing Crisis Core on PSP, I busted out my old PS1 discs a few months ago and played through FF7. It really does have a fantastic story, despite the less-than-stellar translation ("This guy are sick."). The prerendered graphics are still to this day pretty well done, if you can get past the PS1's low resolution.

I have more admiration for FF7 after playing it again now than I did back when it was new.

I started playing it through again on my PSP a while ago (but the game kept glitching on me) - but looking past the graphics (gawd I hate them) I still think it's a fucking good game and the side quests are a lot less fucking annoying than in some other games - FFX lightning bolts and butterflies I'm looking at YOU. Considering I picked it up when I really didn't have a clue what I was doing with RPGs and well into the PS2 era - the storyline must have had something going for it to completely hook me into the genre.

And yes, Sephiroth did get one of the coolest soundtracks going... although Clash on the Big Bridge is still fucking awesome, and Kefka's laugh is still badass to this day.

Depends if people can look past the fact it's inevitably dated now - I'd love to see it redone and brought to either PSP or PS3 as a full-blown re-release like they've done with FF3 and the like.

As for missing items - that's part of JRPGs - love them or hate them, most of them have something that you can miss if you just rush through the game. Even Lost Odyssey with its workaround for it has that Xbox achievement where you have to find EVERYTHING in the entire game I believe (never got too obsessional with Xbox achievements myself).

Hmmmm, so I guess this really does kill off any remakes with a graphic overhaul then.. Maybe in another 10 years.

I think its release on the PSN can be taken as one of two things:

The end of speculation that Square is secretly working on a remake of FF7, or the last effort to milk sales of the title before actually announcing a remake of FF7.

Either way, at least I can play FF7 on the go now.

Or possibly a way to gauge interest on a remake. It's one thing to have people saying "OMG YES DO IT" and another for execs to see a fat bottom line from sales.

Probably picking this up for my PSP just so I don't have to deal with the disc-swap crap via Popstation.

How big is the file-size btw? I'm assuming it's been retooled to not have all the duped data that the game had due to its original multi-disc nature.

9.99. Some PS1 games are $9.99 (castlevania comes to mind), some are 5.99. Not absurdly priced.

Word of warning, don't play for an hour and a half and realize you forgot to create a memory card.

Is there anyway to be able to use the analog sticks?

can't you just create a memory card by hitting the PS button and doing it from there? or is that only assigning slots?

also for whoever asked earlier the filesize is 1.32gb

check back a page or so about the analog sticks, there's a way to configure your ps3 to allow it supposedly.
