    WoW staying open after closing

    So this is new.

I typically have firefox and wow open, vent maybe itunes whatever. Lately, when I exit from wow and say, firefox comes to the top of the screen, wow stays in the taskbar in the backround. Even after several minutes. I have to manually go into processes and end it, why would this be?

Posts like these don't help anyone.

Anyway, it could be a plugin or something that's not ending correctly and causing it to hang up. Try unloading your plugins then see if it still hangs when you exit the game.

I've seen hangs from the login screen -> attempted to quit. I doubt it's an add-on problem. Is DirectX/Windows up to date on that machine? WoW doesn't seem to play along well with anything below SP3 these days.

I'm on Vista 64 ultimate, and there is an update available, I'll try that tomorrow. Ty for the answers so far.

Don't think I have any new addons, so it shouldn't be addon related. It just randomly started happening last week.

Roll back a week or 2 and see if the problem is still there?

So, it's not hanging when its in the foreground... only in the background. I can live with it, maybe its just taking a while to close idk. I have such an insane build I really shouldn't have these problems, but I rather these simple/minor/trivial ones then major i suppose.

Vista is weird about how it handles task priority though, you can have a beastly system and it can still "hang" a process because it changed the priority of WoW when it called for the kill sequence to the associated resources, all in the name of making your foreground processes 'more efficient'.
