Heard it here first guys, you are mediocre if you don't carry a Polearm and 6-hit set gear and food (except you can't change food mid-Limbus and you would be using Great Axe for the floors prior to above example and have zero accuracy making it not beat Great Axe anyway) for a floor in Limbus where everyone farms coins cus it's not 2004. Also for when you fight Roc type mobs, which is all the time.

Nevermind the fact that the 2 things you're harping about are specific examples you asked for of where an extremely low damage polearm will outright beat any gaxe in the game.

Clearly despite being exactly what you specifically asked for, they're my only reasoning in the entire game for carrying a polearm.

Maybe should use GA on Kings and assign a mage for melees instead of using a mini Earth Staff to do LESS damage and minimize damage taken? But what do I know, taking extra time to kill things when it's not needed is a few years old now.

Did it ever occur to you that I'm not even remotely suggesting fulltiming? There are many times when you need your damage down set for more than "a half second." If you can keep up reasonable damage during those times and you don't because you're lazy, guess what, you're gimping yourself.

Plow this thread is about doing damage with Polearm vs Great Axe, we're not discussing WAR tanking anything.

All players on whatever job they play, and missing a set that negates damage, physical and magical are gimped, so is any player who doesn't equipment swap for ANY situation that might occur, I said ANY situation, for any melee, they need DEF set, EVA set, physical dmg down set and magical dmg down set, they also need Regen, at least 4 types of weapons, gear for level sync at any level, for any BCNM, and for any capped event, scaled gear wont cut it, it MUST be the best gear for that level or you're gimped.

Because swapping to Earth Staff is something you do atleast 10-15 times for any serious battle as DD? No. It can happen, but that is damn rare, low man or not.

BTW: Why be gimp and half ass it when you get more damage reduction with Earth Staff? With your logic, stop being gimp for using Iron Ram.
