You have lost yourself, I have no interest in arguing about swapping in IRL when you are taking damage even though I don't think that would often be worth it. This thread is about using a Polearm to do damage, which side are you on?

All players on whatever job they play, and missing a set that negates damage, physical and magical are gimped, so is any player who doesn't equipment swap for ANY situation that might occur, I said ANY situation, for any melee, they need DEF set, EVA set, physical dmg down set and magical dmg down set, they also need Regen, at least 4 types of weapons, gear for level sync at any level, for any BCNM, and for any capped event, scaled gear wont cut it, it MUST be the best gear for that level or you're gimped.

Yes, you're right, fully preparing yourself for the hardest shit in the game with low numbers is exactly on par with not having level capped gear for every level.

I'm Anti-stupid people, there is nothing wrong to fully prepare for tough stuff, but if you had fucking spelled it out way better about the whole thing from start it would've changed a little.
Also, everything in that list, if you don't do it is gimped, so do you do all this at all times or not?

The last sentence is too close to "we can do any fight in the game with nothing but af1" (which I'm not arguing against).


But really, you're sounding way too much like a guy I play with that thinks haste/refresh rotations are super complex and playing X mage job is way harder than the idiot melees that just stand there and die all the time.


Gear is a pretty big deal these days. With the level of damage a well geared 2 hander can put out while actually maintaining survivability being far above and beyond anything a blm could ever manage (barring sleepnuke stuff), your melee's gear is pretty crucial. A drk that relies on black pieces for ws is going to take some nasty spikes sometimes no matter how careful they are, a war without a -dmg set is going to get smacked the fuck down sooner or later, etc., and no matter how good you are if it takes you an hour and a half to kill tinnin, you lost.

Now, obviously, if they can't take the 4 hours it takes to get a weapon from 50 to 200+ these days when martial mastery is up, and carry around a 4k stack of sushi and at least an engetsu and an iron ram lance, they're clearly not going to be that kind of player.

But anyway I'm probably wasting my time saying the things that you completely realize, like I said I'm not sure how much of it is you being serious vs just pointing out how silly that kind of outlook can be.

How many jobs do you have?
Tons of sets for all jobs are fine and dandy, just that it's pretty tough and impossible to have ALL kinds of sets for people with several jobs that already require tons of equips for the usual you know.

You can do it for 5 jobs without any mules and a little discomfort if you have fully unlocked MH/Storage/Locker/Satchel

I'll give you that having a shitton of jobs is a reasonable... reason... to not have all the various this and that to perfect each job. I perfectly understand the ridiculous limitations of inventory in this game.
