Not once was mentioned a cool storyline or entertaining missions.
The storyline would've been cool if it wasn't a complete void with no relevance to the rest of the game. As it is, a crystal randomly pops in out of nowhere and launches seeds and spawns things and it's over in a matter of days and everyone forgets everything (though at least they explain this part... kinda).

Compare to full expansions where you go on and on for 40 damn missions. Feels cooler when you do a lot more.

    No shit.

And as its consumers, this is a thread about distaste of its last product and discussion about relevance to future products.

As a SE consumer, I have serious problems on where this game is going if these "add ons" are to really replace full expansions. I have a serious problem with being baited every few months with this trash by some new "gotta have" item.

Get off SEs dick long enough to realize that people can like or dislike products they buy and talking about isnt being whiny, its being a GOOD fucking consumer.
You either did not read my post, or are trolling. If you are being baited by in-game items, and they are worth the cost to you, congratulations, you just made a purchase. If they are not worth it to you, congratulations, you just saved $10. Heaven fucking forbid SE offers players items and content they desire at a price they are willing to pay. Seriously. Holy Shit.

Bitching about the morality of optional video game expansion packs isn't being a good fucking consumer. Offering constructive input to companies and supporting your own ideals by NOT BUYING PRODUCTS YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH is being a good consumer. You are such a fucking hypocrite.

You didn't rebuke the logic in my post there at all. I did notice you had to get in one last insult though.

When it comes to me, you're absolutely right. I purchased the mini expansion for the reward SE dangled in front of me. I've never been big on story lines (I usually mash the X button without reading) and as someone who has had terrible luck with Valor Surcoat and Hydra Haubert dropping/winning lot, the augmented reward choices intrigued me. If the future expansions have crappy rewards then I won't purchase them, but chances are, SE will make them worth it to a large majority of the population.

Same with Mog Sachet. I plan to activate, get my sachet, deactivate. $9.99 for 80 slots? If I play this game for another year, I only paid an additional $0.83 per month on top of what I was already paying. Not implying that money is an issue for anyone, but for something so minor in cost over time for something I will utilize for the rest of my FFXI gaming experience, I can't imagine passing it up.

If (big giant IF) any of you sandy vaginas are totally correct about Square-Enix swindling their blindly faithful consumers with sub-par, overpriced content, this is the type of business/customer situation that resolves itself. If they truely did drop the ball and disappointed everyone, there will be results from that in the sales of their next mini-expansion. If they didn't actually drop the ball, people will continue to buy it because they enjoyed A Crystalline Phrophecy it and felt it was a good way to spend a measely $10. It's not up to you to try and spark a revolution by insulting everyone who liked it, accusing them of being incompetent consumers.

Subjectivity is your vocabulary word of the day.

I dont think anyone here is complaining because 10 dollars is really breaking them.

I wonder what the next "add on" must have item will be. I wonder if everyone will be just as excited to go kill mandies outside windy for 2 hours to get their "remnant of moogles" for the moogle add on, and feel just as rewarded after they finish the next 2 BCs to get their latest RMT goodie.

And to be clear, because I cant remember correctly, didnt SE state these type of add ons were going to replace full expansions (i.e. we get these in the future, not any more expansions)? Or am I imagining this?

Pretty grim if this is all we have to look forward too.

I doubt it though. You don't see alot of products with a warning everytime you start it up reminding you to not forget about your real life obligations, job, school, friends, family. People are addicted and the MMO market is a special case where the vast majority will buy it to have it all and be upset with the shitty content at the same time.

Not with what you are suggesting, no. By your logic, all companies that offer more than one type of stock item, or less than infinite potential combinations are morally bankrupt. Really, by your logic all companies that don't give you exactly what you want are immoral. I think even King Morality himself, Mr. Ringthree, will chuckle at that.

Either you are Henry Ford, or really missing the point.

Realistically, SE is just going to attach another "must-have" item/equipment to the next add-on to entice players who otherwise wouldn't buy it. This, more then anything else, is what everyone's pissed about.

    - People have been bitching for more inventory space for years, and now for $10 we can get a Mog Satchel.
    - Mission progression has been ridiculously slow for WotG, so for an additional $10 here are a few side-quests and items we would have added for free 3 years ago to keep you busy.
    - Etc, etc, etc...

It's a disappointing trend that shows no sign of reversing itself. I liked ACP, don't have any real complaint with it but let's be honest with ourselves, it wasn't worth $10.

What's the difference in paying $29.99 for one large expansion vs $9.99/ea. for 3 mini expansions? New areas? New quests aside for the primary mission path? New form of Signet/Sanction/Sigil? How I see it, is that SE broke down a large expansion into 3 smaller parts offering 3 different rewards as opposed to 1. I'm perfectly content with that seeing as I'm not a huge story line fan anymore. But that's just me.

None of your analogies are remotely relevant.

Lets say I ate at burgerking every day. Burgerking comes out with a new burger this week and I go up and buy this new treat. I sit down, unwrap the burger, and take a big bite. Turns out, the burger taste like complete shit. In fact, upon further inspection, it is LITERALLY made of cow shit. I go up to the counter and ask why the burger is made of shit, and the teenaged kid behind the counter says "you didnt have to buy it" with his crackly voice. I wouldnt be "whining" to tell me friends that the burger was shit, and I wouldnt be a bad consumer by be weary of future products that came from burgerking.

But then again, some people like you Seraph, will always take a big bite of their shit sandwich, and smile all the way.

    Enjoy.

if this is the case then bye bye FFXI, my playtime is allready reduced because I feel bored/no motivation to log on. Thought the add-on would be fun, but it was boreing, so yeah if nothing big (aka full expansion) comes out, it means bye bye FFXI. Holdeing out till WoG endgame. As for the future add-ons, I will wait this time until the actually release and feedback of players before I purchase it. The Missions will be the same as this I guess, easy cake, boreing, "okeish" reward at the end.

The body was a okeish but not something "zomg must have". I was hopeing for more fun fights.
The only fun fight was against the crystal ~fin.

Poor analogy, neglects the silent majority who enjoyed/was content with the burger

on the basis that it wasn't made of shit

Sounds like a round-about way to accuse all developers/producers/publishers of online gaming with monthly/optional fees of taking immoral advantage of addictive personalities. I guess it is irresponsible to make money off of any product that people can possibly get obsessed/absorbed into because any such people are automatically labelled as mindless consumers who can't keep their wallets closed when something new comes out. Wait a minute, I think there's a word for that... uh... um... capitalism. I guess I am juse one of those people who does not think it is a business' moral obligation to be responsible for any customer's lack of self-control.

Are people more concerned with a dead game, or a game that nickle and dimes you for every new significant thing? I think no matter what, we keep coming back to the new potential BG theme of "Someone Always Bitches".

That statement had nothing to do with morality at all, by the way. I'm referring to the fact that you make inane comments such as

If you are being baited by in-game items, and they are worth the cost to you, congratulations, you just made a purchase. If they are not worth it to you, congratulations, you just saved $10.
See, the middle ground is you can buy the item that's overpriced, then try to use words and logic on things like forums. Also, personally, my main problem here is that I paid for this content already, with my monthly fee. Now they are saying that I only paid half of it, and need to pay more.

As for most businesses (and btw, talking about bad analogies, grats you on 1 here), they are either checked by competition or antitrust laws, they don't get to roam free and charge whatever they want whenever they want and watch people bend over and take it. While everyone has the option to not buy these mini addons, people are doing so because if they want to be the best -insert X job here- they can be, then they have to buy it, and people are choosing to pay to be the best at their jobs. There is no way around that fact, there is no competition, there is absolutely nothing you can do but give in to their ultimatum: Give us $10 or be gimp at your job.

I haven't even started acp, but with that 10 bucks(7 realistically) I could've got me some Carne Asada Nachos at a local joint down town. And I love me some Carne Asada.
