Yes, technically. I'm not saying they broke their word to me or something. I'm saying that it's assumed by every fucking MMO player they will get some content updates. It's assumed when you go to a restaurant, that when they bring a cup of water to the table, you aren't gonna pay for that.
No, when I pay for this game, I expect to be able to play when I want to play (excluding important server maintenance), and I expect to have decent customer service. That customer service is provided by both the GM staff AND the development team that puts out content patches.
1. expansion offer NEW Areas (douzens of zones)
2. expansion often offer NEW jobs (Zilarat 3, CoP 0, Aht Urgan 3, WoG 2)
3. expansion offer NEW, sometimes very decent equipment, in large quantities. (Assault gear anyone?, Iron Ram set etc WoG anyone? etc)
4. expansion offer a totally new battlefield/scenario (Conquest, Besieged, Campaign)
5. expansion offer totally new mobs!
6. expansion offer endgame shit!
7. expansion offer also lots of new quests (serpent quest anyone? just as an example)
8. expansion offer more missions, with sometimes harder fights (exeption are WoG and ToAU) and with intsense CS!
9. expansion offer new farming/mineing/loggin etc items/places!
thats for 30 bucks
from the add-on I expected (the 10 bucks):
1. decent mission line, with intense CS and story.
2. Intense and decent battles!
3. at least 20 missions!
4. a surprise reward at the end (besides the body, because it was allready meh for me)
the add-on failed in all 4 categorys! (maybe not so hard at the last one).
now lets tripple this!
3x 10 bucks = 30 bucks
3x almost nothing = still almost nothing
= full expansion?
I was thinking more along the lines of Neosutra standing first in a line around the corner of a place called "WE MAKE SHITBURGERS," awaiting the new signature shitsandwich. Going "Oh manohmanohman... This is going to taste so fucking good," having already payed for his brandnew shitburger a week before hand, eagerly salivating on his $10 irredeemable claim ticket. "Oh no! What a big disappointment! I didn't know this would taste like doodoo!" Perhaps you shouldn't have been such a hypocritically bad consumer by purchasing something from a place you know makes food out of shit before you heard any reviews about it other than the toy they advertised comes free with your steaming shitburger.
You can look at expansions and what else there's optional fees for as "premium" content. Who doesn't use this business tactic? There's fucking overpriced fancy looking "premium" M&Ms now. Every damn website has "premium" membership for extra content. Just because there's more content in a video game doesn't mean you can't play without it. It's your own irrational compulsions that make you purchase something that turns out to be not worth the money.
As much as I hate to ask but.
If you didnt like ACP so much, and dont want SE to continue with the trend, what are you gonna do about it? More than likely just sit here and post about it, getting more people riled up, right? Ultimately nothing will come out of it, anyway.
And you did get your free update. PLUS you got an optional bonus one for $10. So, what's your problem?
They brought you your water just as scheduled, for free. They also asked you if you wanted Lemonade for an additional fee, and you just flipped shit at the waiter. Who looks like an ass now?
Wait, posting on forums is supposed to be productive? I thought it was just a way to pass time...If you like ACP and hate people posting on the forums so much, what are you gonna do about it? Flame people for thinking differently than you?
I don't regret paying $10 for 75 inventory slots. I don't really regret paying $10 for this little shitburger addon either. I think it's sad and pathetic that this is what's happening to FFXI however, and I think it's more sad and pathetic how many people think this is perfectly fine.
I thought it was common knowledge the # of updates per year has been going down. Oh, looks like I didn't get it just as scheduled huh?
And if you want to use the "extra for a fee", let's go with they brought a pitcher of water for free, said if you didn't want to pay more, they'd just pour the water on the table and hope you were happy. If you pay more, they'll bring you a glass, then pour the water into that.
I like ACP so far, it's cool how they give people incentive to help again with the fights.
I also enjoy the game and my life so maybe that's what's different here.
You and I must have a very different opinion on what serious means. I find a lot of things done in social settings in elementary-high school sad and pathetic too, and nobody in their right mind would call that shit serious. I think a lot of people would agree with me that "sad and pathetic" is an apt term, however. I even did some of said things in my past, it was still sad and pathetic, and not the least bit serious.
I enjoy the game, I enjoy my life, and I enjoy passing time on forums. Perhaps that's the real difference here.
Your shitty sig is what's really sad and pathetic here, bud.
I never said they are morally responsible. I said that looking at the sales of the next two expansions will be a poor indication of customer satisfaction, because, most people who play this kind of game will buy it anyway. If you want to get into the morality of MMOs, that is a completely seperate topic.
Failure, you're comparing a video game that functions perfectly fine without any additional fees or premium content whatsoever with a water poured on a table instead of a glass, where it can be used, unlike the former. This makes zero sense and relates in no way to this mini-expansion.
Huh? Don't twist the analogy to fit your scenario (especially if it's not a valid scenario). Both the water and the lemonade are served in a glass. The water is free, the lemonade is optional and costs an additional fee. Jesus, next you'll be saying coming the to the resturant is free but you have to pay for a chair to sit. He gave you a perfectly accurate analogy and you tried to twist it to benefit you. No sir.
SE has a gun and the mog satchel is the bullets, if se is holding up a restaurant to reclaim what it believes is its rightfully earned water, then how long will it take train A to reach baltimore
