Just goes back to luck. Took my wife and I 1.5 hours to farm the Yag seeds, and 35 seconds to farm the Orc keys..

But the point remains that those kind of quests isnt content, it's pointless filler.

I enjoyed it enough. Didn't really benefit from the final reward since I already had better gear for all my 75s. but I had fun. 10 bucks might have been a bit much, 5-7 seems more like it, but w/e.

Also, I have no clue what the story was. Didn't read a word of it. Something about a crystal was it?

I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I read the script, I saw a picture of young aldo and the crystal, I saw the shitty equipment that people are proudly sporting for a reason that I don't understand... It doesnt feel like I'm missing out anything. Sure, I would like to complete it for completition sake, I would like to see the animated cutscenes, but that's just me being addicted to the game and wanting to do everything. The script was more than enough to fill my need for story.



And really, SE are lazy fuck. Beside the script, nearly everything was copy pasted from somewhere else in the game. There is 0 effort put in this expansion. They should at least add a new map/dungeon to give you the feeling you're exploring the world.

I guess I just don't understand you. The core concept behind an MMO is filler. That's the reason everyone plays the game, to waste time and dick around with other people and have fun. The only real problem is when noone has filler to play with. If you aren't having fun anymore just stop playing.

That would be almost 3 lapdances a month in potential savings!

The last mission was horrible, it was torture. One of the most severe mission fights ever conceived, coupled with a ridiculously harsh penalty for failure. Climbing that tower once was fun but when you're forced to do it over and over and over again it becomes far, far from it. Either SE really were trying to make this last 2 weeks (I think I'd have shot myself long before then) or the addon was very poorly tested.

Storyline wise, horrible. I literally can't remember anything from it, aside from a crystal and trying rather lazily to tie into the opening cutscene of FFXI. Horribly uninteresting storyline and boring cutscenes,

My thoughts exactly. I still don't know what that was all about and I'm one of those people that reads and re-reads cutscenes to make sure I understood everything. Didn't make a fucking ounce of sense. Complete garbage.


I'm amazed that I've even found anything positive but I have to praise SE for 2 great steps forward with this addon:

1) Augmented items (Aside from ANNM, the augmented rewards from the coffer have been the only ones worth shit)

2) The key system - I'm really, really impressed with this. Now there is a true reward for helping out your friends with a mission or repeating them for fun (not that any of these ones were particularly fun.. but still). I wish this kind of system were implemented throughout the game.

Oh, actually I played for exciting challenges and far reaching goals. (Trying to beat PW/AV, beating CoP for the first time years ago, finishing first salvage set, finishing relic, etc).

Didnt realize you were playing just for mindless grinding.

I'm really shocked more people aren't outraged at this than Neo. You bought the original game, you pay your monthly fee (not to mention charging for mules is retarded), you buy expansions when they are released, and then they throw this crap at people?

It's like a con-artist type thing. I once went on a vacation to Egypt, at the Pyramids/etc, there's people that let you ride a camel for a fee. It starts out all nice, then when you want to get down, they say they'll help you off if you pay more. Otherwise, you're stuck 6 feet off the ground on the back of a moving animal. And while this isn't a problem for some people, for mothers/children/etc, it is a problem.

There's also a commercial that's been running where I live recently with a guy offering a normal car wash service (like the fund-raisers do), but then not rinsing the car after. Imagine if instead he just tried to charge you more for the rinse.

It doesn't matter that it's only $1 more, or $5 more, or $10 more, it's the principle of the thing. When I play this game and pay monthly, I expect them to give small updates to the game that are contained within the game (gobbie bag, extra missions, whatever). If they want to release a retail expansion with a significant amount of content that is similar to a new game, then sure. But sitting here and releasing an authenticator, then bribing/forcing you with an ingame benefit is just bullshit. They should have given everyone the ingame inventory space (or made it quested), and then offered the authenticators separately at $10 each. That's what Blizzard did. They offered a security advancement as just that, extra security.

For this mini-expansion, they are just using it to milk money. Who cares about $10, nobody is gonna seriously hurt from that, but this line was less complex than the ZNM system. How would you feel if the ZNM system cost $10? And why not make Nyzul cost $10 too. Then $10 per salvage zone. May as well charge for Einherjar and MMM as well.

There is a line that should exist, and this mini-expansion went over that line, in my opinion. But don't worry, they are releasing 2 more of them in the future. People say now they won't pay for it - but is that really gonna be the case? If there's gear you really want? Or if they decide to add 1 new end-gameish event? I think everyone should be outraged at this, I think SE has no right to charge for that, but *shrug*, instead it's probably just as useful to say "lol sandy vag".

That being said, I like these "daily" quests, gives me something to do with my spare time (I think campaign is the most boring pointless thing ever, so to each their own!), and there's a small bit of excitement in seeing what you get out of the chest.

Anyway, I'm out $20 for now, I plan to put my authenticator on my account and remove it the same day. I'm not hurting for $20, but most people in this world save money on small things, and it adds up. We know SE is planning to try to drain $20 more, and who knows, maybe every content patch from here on out is gonna be an extra $10. Sounds shitty to me.

Those are all grinds man, don't kid yourself. Sure, they are all fun and enjoyable to many people, and that is why they play the game. I just don't understand what you were expecting, and you keep twisting out of giving a response so you can keep bitching. Pretty typical you.

You got some cut scenes, some plot lines, some BCNMs, some repeatable random rewards, and some planned 'powerful' rewards with automatic 'drop and request' included from the start. So, besides a new ultra powered HNM, what else were you expecting exactly?

Sure, it might be a filler, but there is still different degree of entertainment you get can get from an activity. Grinding and exploration will entertain you in a completely different way, and I would be willing to say one of them is unealthy (still better than going to dragon aery for the 800th times...but still)

If they offered a refund Id take it. Im rather disappointed with this. Its really really pitiful at the amount of content in this. The approach was lame, the only good thing to come out of it seems like the fight. And the reward is forgettable. I haven't done it, and honestly don't care to rush to finish it now that I know the end result.

It really seems like something they could have programed and put in the game with a weeks worth of programing time. I will not be buying further mini expansions unless the content is drastically better.

I've never been able to get into RPGs and game storylines past FFT. The only thing that has ever captured my attention was COP all the way up to Apoc Nigh. Bring that shit back...

I miss anticipating THOSE mission releases. FFXI mission go from me staying up all night trying to blast through missions and find the rewards, to "meh ill wait to someone beats it and tells me how it goes"

You do what you find enjoyable, that's the point. I play the game, I know it's mostly a waste of time, but I find it a moderately cheap way to entertain myself. To each their own.

Hm, the token>inventory thing. I would rather they just have made it a gobbie bag, and required 1 kclub, 1 ninurta's sash, 1 shenlong's bagnakhs, and 1 defending ring. That is about what it would be worth if we weren't being forced to pay $10 right?

Yea, you really have to do it all to get the true feel for it. I mean, I guess you can't see the sub-par cutscenes...

Farming 6 semi-low drop items in overcrowded areas though, wow, you HAVE to get this mini-expac and see it for yourself before you can talk!

But wait, after that you get to kill waves of 1 shotable mandragoras. WOO EXCITING!

And then, you get to run around Feiyin and click 9 spots on the ground. Really, get this mini-expac for this!!

Then you get a fight that's easier than pretty much every CoP fight. My group went in with no real plan whatsoever except to have 3 different melee each solo their own mob. We won first try.

Then you get to climb Delkfutt's under 30cap. Maybe you can find that fun? Maybe you're just delusional after having done the ACP missions to this point and are numbed from it.

The last fight + reward is the only "redeeming" factor from this mission line.

And the "Daily quests" to get keys, I actually like them, but sorry, your crap of "lol you haven't done it" is pretty much a worthless argument.
