So is every game on Nintendo consoles, but yet here comes Conker's Bad Fur Day to mind fuck the children of the world. Mario is just fun to everyone because everyone can do it..hence why in FFXI easy things can be considered fun because you don't have to be some 'omfguber1337level75masta' to take part in.
super mario brothers was THE game to play when it first came out.... over 20 years ago, and I'm sure it was pretty challenging to players back then.
Super Mario Bros is bullshit because I paid $50 for it and couldn't even move the screen left. What the fuck was Nintendo thinking? Let's not even mention my console was down for fucking maintenance all day Saturday during my prime time because my lungs were too tired to keep blowing off my cartridges. Assholes only put two buttons on my controller too. Fuck.
Mark my words: I will not be buying the next game no matter what. I don't care how long the princess stays in the air. Fuck Toad.
There's still people who never truly beat the original super mario brothers (Nes version) kinda like now, Zelda was the "challenging" game 20 years ago, Mario was the "easy pick up and play" game, so those who felt they needed a challenge..played zelda..those who just wanted to pick up a game and have fun..picked up SMB.

Define-->omfguber1337level75masta
1-Skilled person with a knowledge of the game,
or
2-A Noob who bought a relic char
If is #1 , then hell yes u have to be omfguber1337level75masta,
If is #2 gtfo.
Dest is saying that there are things in FFXI that you don't HAVE to be level 75 to do, and still fun to do.
To name a few, you know, the things no one thought it's worth doing anymore:
Promyvion ENMs
Eco-Warriors
Garrisons
Oh those were the days, especially when I did Eco-Warriors for bastok within the first couple of weeks of playing FFXi, and back then, woo, that was a doozy. I miss my little Warrior 25 kitty back then.
irrelevant
also super mario was a game designed so that anyone could play it from any part in the game. as long as you could comprehend your controller moving the guy on the screen, you could play.
not necessarily designed for kids (its more of an acid trip for people who get stuck in the sewer if you ask me. or shall i say shrooms. zoomers?)
considering that back then, it was challenging and hardly anyone knew about it, I remember watching my dad playing through Super mario brothers and try to finish it in several days back then, despite the fact that there were thigns like gamef--Oh Wait. Those didn't exists, neither did players guide, neither did most of the informations that people had their hands on. Most people, had to, actually, do this, on their own. Holy crap!
hmm. I wonder how did most people, epsecially the japanese and some NA felt
when they did CoP the first time.
Kinda like starting back on JP release, no one had an "hand holding" guide, everything was "we should try x and x and see why y's results will be!" you know..having fun...playing the game..not like now:
"Well according to the datamined results..."
"According to parsers...."
"According to my windower (insert plugin here)..."
"According to x's guide....(which btw THEY had to experiment and actually play to make their guides)
There's really no sense of adventure and people trying to do shit for themselves anymore, like back in CoP people felt overwhelmed because Promies were make or break (since the chapters ended just before U/O BC) and most people couldn't cut it till others started holding their hands through it.
The point is, people had NO IDEA what to expect from super mario brothers, ESPECIALLY the North Americans. Super Mario Brothers and NES, really turned things around for video games as it was SO different from the days of atari and earlier. It was a long paced epic adventure at the time, which gave decent challenge, and that game was pretty much one of the most influential game for the video game companies and nintendo.
when I spoke of my LS doing promyvion ENMs and the mission fights itself, I'm speaking of the time BEFORE they nerfed them, and by before they nerfed them, I mean when you NEEDED the animas to actually defeat these suckers back then. They were hard? Yes, were they impossible? Absolutely not.and they probably felt pretty owned, i remember when i first heard the reports of how impossibly hard the Promyvions were. which resulted in SE gimping them a bit.
and then again, much much later
+1?
SE gimped them twice and even added NMs that dropped gear to compliment the 'empty killer' trait which made them a lot easier, pre-nerf..mobs on the first floor were pretty rough let alone the next few. People who found it impossible never had to deal with true sight mobs before and never really had experience with something THAT tough..because face it, before CoP the hardest thing around was ZM 4.
yeah promyvions on release were pretty nasty:
1. Having to do a level 30 cap mission at a time when a lot of players were just finally hitting 75 and looking for chances to use their completed job
2. Having to do three of them, and they were all basically the same
3. Required a lot of prep time
4. Zones stuffed with up to IT mobs that true aggro
5. Tough BC fight at the end
Didn't help that almost all the rest of the expansions content revolved around finishing promyvion. Can't finish all of them or have friends that are having trouble completing them? Have fun with bibiki bay because that's all you were getting until you finished those moronic 30 caps
Promys when they came out tested your MGS skills so it was +1 just for that!
