It has been done, and can be done with almost any job. If a fight was made easily accessible to every job, then it would become simple.

Any sort of gimmick or unique point for any fight would go out the window.

I couldn't do the final BCNM for ToAU by the time I got there. all I had was THF at 75. I had to finish leveling my DRG to 75 to finally be able to be useful and bring in enough damage to help kill Alexander. That's just one example.

I'm speaking mostly for the mission fights. There are a LOT of people that would only level their jobs only because they like them, not because they would be "useful" for others. People who enjoyed Meleeing, will never level a job like bard or scholar or corsair. I'm hearing the very same case taking place for ACP final BCNM.

CoP is only remembered fondly because it was the era when everything wasnt blasted the fuck through in one night. It was the era that presented the most challenge to the playerbase and its remembered for that level of challenge. People fondly remember how Vrtra was talked about as being such a challenge, Tiamat was only touched by BSTs and SMNs and "omg its Jormy" on top of the mountain of agro. It was fun to know you had shit to work towards beating... today only the laughable AV remains.

SE dropped Ixion and Sandworm into the game rather recently and people down them in 30-40mins without even a challenge. Sure a few melee may die, some people might get zapped/galed or maybe you fuckup and CFH but hardly do you ever expect to full wipe? The challenge just isnt there compared to what we've had in the past.

What people want from the CoP era in todays FFXI arent the nerfs or the rampant RMT/poshacking but the idea that they are going to be pushed to the limits of their characters and jobs that they play. Sadly SE only underwhelms people with content that is too easy or content that ends up like AV or PW.

If you look at todays endgame, its mostly just bitching about drop rates (0/XX on QQTH for example) and not about how hard the actual content is. The player just keeps getting stronger and the monsters/challenges are just being left in the fucking dust.

Example of the smart way to do things:
I leveled sam when it was just a normal melee job. Where it really wasn't desired for EXP parties, and all of that jazz. Why? Because I enjoyed the job. It was a dream of mine since the day I started playing to level Samurai.

...but I also wasn't a retard, and leveled BLM, BRD, and WHM as well.
I actually liked all of those jobs (except end game brd, fuck that noise), but the point stands. If you level unwanted jobs, don't bitch.

DRG was the second job I got to 75, and it was already on the way to 75 by the time I got to that final mission. it is a DD job that could give out enough damage to kill the bad boy in time. That was the main reasoning. it's really just an example, I know it's not the best, but meh.

Honestly, Neo does have a point, to a degree.

They wrote "two months of content", and we got...7 hours. A lot of us were expecting a little bit more than "HURF DURF TOO WEAK MOB FARMING"
