I'm typically the last person to complain about stuff that SE puts out. But I'm afraid even I have to say that I was very disappointed with this. Originally they said the content of each scenario would take about a month to complete. Now, I didn't *actually* think that would be the case, but I expected at least 2 weeks worth of content.
I bought this knowing that none of the end-rewards were of particular interest to me- rather, I bought it for fun and storyline. This falls pretty short in both areas.
I think some people just get so blinded with faith in this company they say everything they produce is good just to show their appreciation and hope they don't go away.
It should be the other way, we should be showing our disappointment and demand more out of them. This game is a cash cow for their company, an easy cash cow. We shouldn't settle for mediocre.
That's the exact same boat I'm in. Until I level Cor but by the time that happens there might be a better quick draw body anyways.
QFTMT SE is making money off this game to support the creation of sub par games such as The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, Dragon Quest Swords, etc.
didn't have to do it the day it came out. The day after it came out the areas weren't that crowed at all.
And it might be easy for most of us but what about people who just joined the game? I bet they will have a different saying. I remember when I only had 60 whm and had to kill an avatar with 6 people.
I had fun with the scenario. The progression of missions took me back a few years in this game lol, it was almost nostalgic at some points. The Coffer/Key system is pretty clever, I actually liked the cut-scenes, and the body reward pieces albeit garbage for some jobs, awesome for a few others.
Do I think it was worth the $10? Ultimately that's a matter of personal opinion, mine being no. This add-on showed me absolutely nothing to deem it "$10 worth." The whole thing felt like a quest line that could have been easily added in an update. The Serpent General quest line alone is probably worth more then this scenario and it was free. More then likely I won't pick up the next two add-ons. I don't plan on supporting this business endeavor of SE because all it will do is encourage them to make similarly priced content.
Eh, I didn't do it until yesterday, was still camped and annoying. You know it's special when you aggro a camp of Goblins in Sauromugue, and someone shows up to steal the mobs off you after you've already aggroed them. And btw, maybe 1 more BC is hard for a 60 whm, none of the farming low level crap is, then again, if you're a 60 whm, you're more likely to leech off a 75 party, sit around looking for a party forever and get declined, or just focus on hitting 75 first anyway.
I started FFXI near release, then quit a long time ago, then started back up 2-3 years ago, after everyone was 75/etc. I distinctly remember being a level 60 white mage COMPLETELY UNABLE TO GET A PARTY FOR AN AVATAR. Seriously, level 75 terribles wouldn't take me because I was too low level for such a hard fight...laugh. I feel even worse for any level 60 trying to do these missions. Nobody is gonna take em on the final fight unless it's a solid group helping a friend, and I bet they'd be hard pressed to get a group for the Feiyin fight.
No, but when you start playing the game, you kind of expect to get 4 updates a years and an expansion every 2 years or so. Now, we are getting less content than usual, and they are asking us to pay more for it? They didn't kill my mother, but saying "it's okay" is ridiculous.
Anyway, enjoy your crack, I will come back every 4 months to get my share of story and quit again.
I never leveled RDM. I can't criticize them when they suck in the party because I can't possibly know what it is to play that job.Originally Posted by jornaa
Seriously, don't you think after 5 years, I can't imagine what it is like to farm a few items accross Vanadiel? I know the script, I know the mission. Tell me which part I'm missing that make me unable to comment about the quality of this expansion?
My point is, the game isn't the same now. I realize what you are saying, but you bring up new people and talk about your experiences as a 60 whm when 75 wasn't necessarily the standard. I'm saying new people/level 60s now are just fucked. They aren't gonna even be able to get this done more than likely (it's definitely possible, don't even need 6 for all the missions), I think it's dumb to bring them up with regards to the difficulty.
The missions are boring/easy for us, and a level 60 is in a worse position than we are.
What annoyed me about these missions aren't the fight or CS but the dam go kill mob for item or key item, really SE what kind of crack you smoking? and bodies are really useless for me i really wish they gave more options to add into the armors
ok why not we look into this..........
Money majority of us we paid for expansion is for the missions storyline? REALLY? wow i didnt know that. i thought all you guys wanted is the end game contents and final mission reward: Rajas, Ulta etc?
and for people who buy wotg, you cared mostly for campaign bodies or final reward.......
we have had 872314687324684326432 complains about spending 20ish bucks on wotg and mission progress sooooooooooooooooooo slow. then comes our 10 dollar ADD-ON that can be done in 24 hours and then the RAGEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
seriously........what do you guys want lmao
lets be honest. be it COP, RoTZ, ToAU, WoTG..........all we look for these expansions are the possible end game content: dynamis, salvage, annm, znm, sky, sea etc
will ACP have something like that? i dunno i guess our end game contents are in the red coffer in tenshodo and thats all.............
as for ACP's mission, i will call it something like a RoTZ mission.......very little. but at least ACP got augmented final reward and lotsa keys to farm for.........RoTZ is just a mission to go to sky, but hey thats 1 of our end game content!
i just hope ACP dont stop here......but honestly i cant think of anything SE can add into these mini expansions
adding more random loots into the box? i doubt we have a new island somewhere for this expansion to play lol
Two days worth of expansion content and nothing worthwhile in the "update", for the first time I'd call myself disgruntled with SE. After someone telling me today they bought FFXI + ROZ + COP + WOTG for 15 bucks on XBOX Live I call 10 dollars for ACP highway robbery.
actually what i fear most is we may not actually have a proper large scale expansion in the future again
ToAU may be our last enjoyable expansion thats worth the full money we paid.
its not an expansion for the millionth time its not expanding upon anything stop calling it a god damn fucking expansion
I paid $10 and all I got was not having to do Dynamis-Xarcarbard for a Cover macroshirt.
The fights were fun, it actually makes me want to help friends get through so I can get more ebon keys and shit... I'm fairly open to buying the next two.
On the one hand I like the direction they're taking; lately there hasn't been really that much story in the updates compared to what we got with CoP, so if this helps to make the situation better (bring the amount of story in updates back to that of the CoP era) then I'm all up for it. I always thought of CoP as a failure of an expansion when looking at the big picture though; as for myself not being a 75 at the time yet, and couldn't get a group / didn't care for missions there was really nothing for me to do. That's why on the other hand I didn't want to bring back time when making the story took too much time from developing other things (or maybe the dev's just sucked at the time, I dunno). I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to get both "normal" content And the story in the same update unlike before.
But meh, even though there's 2 good music tracks and the concept of story is interesting (story of Aldo) I can see how noob the team making these things is compared to the one making WoTG cutscenes and story (I never liked RoTZ and nations stories that much, and the guy who made them hasn't become any better unfortunately). Sure, I think I got what I wanted (more story), but the quality is lacking right now. They'll have to make the story and cutscenes far better for me to consider buying the rest of the addons.
But I wouldn't say that I was really that disappointed other than on the story part (which I cared about the most, frankly). What really surprised me were the rewards which I didn't expect to be This good (seriously, who did expect this? CoP gave rajas+ethereal after million missions, toau gave ulthalam, wotg jeuno flag etc.). The way augments were added to the mix I thought was really nice too, to give incentives to help or redo the missions. Also I wasn't really bothered by the "collect 3 of this" quests, I didn't have trouble with them, but they could have made them better in many ways. Climbing the Delkfutt again if you lose reaaally sucks too!
As for the future of this game, I'm a bit worried too. 4 months per update and the fact that SE reused lot of old content to make WoTG is imo a clear indicator that we might not see a new "big" expansion ever again :/. Well, not that it matters to me much since I'll quit pretty soon due to RL, but it would be nice to come back someday to see far east, west, north and south implemented!
I'm normally the first person to defend FFXI when people try to badmouth it (from disgruntled players to wow fans), but this crap was just ridiculous.
I feel cheated. SE mentioned it would take "hardcore players" two weeks to finish this, and some people did it in around 4-5 hours. The content in ACP was laughable at best. Like others have said on this thread, it made no sense. huuur crystal hurrr seeds hurrr kill, done. I always read the cutscenes, and I still dunno wtf I read in ACP. Cutscenes were dull, missions were boring. Saucepan was a nice touch though, I enjoyed that.
I really liked the final mission BC music though, that was really great, and the fight itself wasn't bad. I guess I would have had more fun if I wasn't the only person on stun duty, who was also in charge of sleeping charmed people/waking them up after uncharm. Overall, was still a nice fight, and required some coordination. I just wish I could have enjoyed it more on a different job. Took my group 23 minutes, but the record on Midgard is 4:23, I think. I honestly can't think of how it happened. Maybe KC drks or mnk/drks or something ridiculous like that.
The final BC's rewards' awesomeness depends solely on your job, and in my case, was nothing too great. Having whm/blm/rdm/sch/smn/blu @ 75, I had somewhat limited choices, and ended up going for a sMN style body-piece, since it would be the least sucky. I'm one of the few people that thinks Redingote looks good, but then again I'm a Taru; you can barely see it. Having all other sorts of body gear for my jobs, Redingote becomes even less desired. If it didn't exist (as it didn't before ACP), life in vana'diel would remain unchanged. The key system is nice, but the augments are handled is fail. The randomness in the keys themselves is fail. My Ebon key gave me a Spinel, and I think Azure key gave me a Hi-Potion, I mean, seriously. Come the fuck on.
Wall of text, etc. tl;dr: Thanks SE, for ripping off your loyal customers with bullshit excuses for content. Makes me wonder what I should expect for the next two add-ons, and whether or not I should quit the game before they're released. Also, thanks for finally finding a way to work around PS2 limitations to give us more inventory (for $10). Here's an idea: Charge us retroactively for all the previous gobbiebags, as well as the mog safe! While you're at it, also charge us for all the furnishings' storage capacity increase from previous updates as well. $_$
P.S. Augment system and ACP may not depend on one another, and just happened to be introduced at the same time. The system itself has (had) an enormous amount of potential to be greatly awesome, but as usual, SE took a great idea, and messed it up, failing to deliver in the process. 99% of the augmented gear I've seen around is ridiculously stupid.
