SO. I was already logged in this mornin when I get the maintenance system message which says "type /smes to see affected area".

DON'T FUCKING DO IT! Cuz ever since I did, I crash whenever I try to log in, and have no clue why. . .

Doing a file check now (I don't do any .dat swapping stuff) so I have no clue wtf is up.

Even when I try to log in the old school way, I get the following error: "Terminated as error occurred in FFXI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run FFXI(-1)."

    Anyone with any ideas?

Every time I try to log into windower 3.41 I crash. I'm running poldower on that PC now til I find out a solution.

Sometimes they do..sometimes they don't. Just purely looking at areas it could be in relation to Storage NPCs, Quests (ACP/WoTG) Missions (Gotta go through Markets to get to Metalworks), Campaign/Campaign OPs or drop rates/screwed up spawning for said ACP quests/missions.

A friend of mine had that same error, he tried to check files in both POL and FFXI, no problems found, then he tried to run the game without Windower.. worked fine.

    Windower Self-Destruct Button* apparently lol

I say just wait it out. I bet the /servmes it too big for windower to recognize and it crashes.

Haha same god damn thing just happen to me, I thought Bastok Mines might be in maintenance or something but it's not. I'll log in, see my character in Bastok Mines, then POL errors and closes. (Windower 3.4)

Getting this too - get crash when I get into the game and go through the "Area=South Sandy" thing then POL crashes when the server message would normally load.

Apparently some zones went down, while others that were scheduled for maintenance didn't. Anyone know what the fuck is going on?
