Ah, I meant food-wise on the Rngs, thanks though =P. Just wanted to confirm. I've been pushing the sushi angle, but meat's been suggested as well. I'm just iffy about people going in and not being able to hit shit >.>. Here's the alliance setup we have so far, based off of the available jobs/numbers in the ls:

    Tank Party:
    Pld/Nin
    Pld/Nin
    Whm/Sch
    Whm
    Brd/Whm
    Rdm/Whm

    DD Party #1:
    Rng
    Rng
    Rng
    Cor
    Rdm/Whm
    Brd/Whm

    DD Party #2:
    Cor
    Smn
    Smn
    Blu/Thf (Cannonball)
    Brd/Whm
    Rdm/Whm

    Second Alliance:

    Fomor Party:
    Drg/Nin
    Drg/Nin
    Sam/War
    Thf/Nin
    Rdm/Whm
    Whm/Smn

    Melee Party:
    War/Sam
    Sam/Thf
    War/Thf
    Drg/Sam
    Whm/Sch
    Rdm

    Extra Party:
Pld/Nin, Backup for Tank Party if someone goes down.
    Sam/Thf

My ls is incredibly melee-heavy, so instead of having one of our Rdms kiting Fomors we just threw 3 melee with flee shoes at it. It doesn't help that the only 2 CORs in the ls are also 2 of our Primary WHMs >.>'.

I'm also very interested in the Meat or Sushi question, GG has been told Sushi only, I've been told Meat or GTFO.

The non-RNG or COR DDs that are coming mostly have 8/8 main Weapon merits, gear could be considered above-average but not Ebody/VBelt caliber. (They have HQ Haubs, Haidates, PCC, Perdu Voulges and Haguns, things of that nature)

Meat on Odin. The lowest we've killed Odin with was like 19, and it was a pretty safe fight, finishing with about 5 minutes remaining. The setup was something like:

PLD, PLD, WHM, WHM, RDM, BRD
SAM, SAM, WAR, THF, RDM, SCH
RNG, RNG, COR BRD (he hopped between both DD parties)
Two RDM/NIN and a PLD for adds

It really is a simple fight, as long as you know how to handle all of his % mark gimmicks. PLD is a nice choice for tank because you can add some damage with Atonement (though it's nerfed) and help keep the DDs alive, but there's no reason why a NIN/DRK could not tank it. SAM/THF are my favorite DD on it because they really mess it up, and cap hate on the tanks very fast. Add pullers can all solo an add no problem, just make sure they have a claim order and are quick to get it off the tank.

your drk would certainly tear it up.

odin is such a pussy, and incredibly low def compared to some other mobs and hits like a punk. he's gotta be one of the softest hitting HNM's in the game. Khim hits me harder than him generally, and we all know how weak Khim hits for. (according to our LS parses)

our LS had about 4 aegis's as well, but i was always one of the top chosen before the other ones. actions always speak louder than words, but one thing i did besides nin tank it, is SAM tank it. yup. SAM tank. my pty consisted of 2 sams, 2 brds, 1 rdm and 1 whm. support was so used to me tanking on nin, that my name was on their macro pallets before spellcast or whatever came out. Odin was incredibly easy to hold hate on when you have the freedom to go balls out to spam WS's and have the gear to reduce dmg when the time comes. he hits slow, and soft, and his aoes are generally weak.

    -IMO-

i think DD tanks are the best on him. Seigan was always generous. this is coming from someone who sam tanked sarameya before kae posted a LJ update about it (approx 2 weeks after it was introduced), and vey posted pics of how awesome it was. But thats just me. i was used to top notch support, who's LS didnt like having to spend more than 10-15 min in odin's chamber.

Doing our first Odin tonight, and our RNGs are wondering what food to use.

They'll have a COR and a BRD in their PT, but none of them are RNG mains (Meaning, they have good but not perfect gear, and most of them have other melee jobs with weapon merits, so low or no Archery/Marksmanship merits)

The new ranger food pot-au-feu is pretty good all round.

If the rangers are getting hunter's roll there should not be any issue if they choose to eat subs instead.

Without hunter's roll I tend to miss a few sidewinders (at 100% tp) if I ate subs instead of sushi.

I also wanted to ask is how potent is the Curse effect from Valfodr? Is it a minor curse, or a major curse that drops you to like under 500HP?

I like this guide already. It knows I don't have any tank classes (Bar-BLU) leveled.

On sam takes me from 1.35k to about 950 so I'd guess around 25% hp nothing like as sevre as chaosblade but can be troublesome if you have ~20 and he uses it just before 10k needles.

We've done about 3 Odin's with ~22. I'm very confident it can be done with about 20 pretty easily. Did an odin last night with 23, in about 21 minutes.

Add kiter: Rdm/nin with powder boots

Only need one if you spread out people to 2hr when adds spawn. 1/3 of DD's 2hr @ first adds, and so on. We usually have our bards 2hr @ 9% just to push through the last stretch.

Not gonna post an ideal setup, because that would be more than 25 at least, but this game is pretty much all about adapting to shit... so here's what we did last night. (our 8th odin)

    Tank pt:
    pld/nin
    pld/nin
    whm/sch
    rdm/whm
    brd/whm
    Drg/Sam

    party1
    sam/thf
    sam/thf
    drg/sam
    war
    smn
    whm

    party2
    rng
    drk
    drk
    bard
    whm

2 rdm/nins for add control (alternating diaga + hauling ass) This can be done with 1, but the backup incase of death is always good

    outside allie pt
    Thf/nin
    Smn/whm
    Rng

as cor/rng in the RNG pt I hit fine with pot au feu

Detonator seems to do about the same as Slug though, so I stick with it for a bit more accuracy

We killed it two nights ago with 18 (including THF for TH), it was not too bad. Alliance make-up:
    PLD/PLD/RDM/WHM/BRD
    SAM/SAM/SAM/BRD/SCH/RDM
    RNG/RNG/WAR/BRD/THF
    PLD/RDM and PLD/NIN (adds)

Damage was fine, we won with plenty of time to spare. I think the Rangers were /WAR, the SAM were /THF and the WAR was /SAM. The adds apparently moved faster than 12% though according to the PLD/RDM kiter, so next time I would probably have one of the SAMs go RDM/NIN or NIN or something, and have 3 /NINs to tank an add each like we usually do. Otherwise, it was no problem, and for our 18 person effort we were of course rewarded with W. body, H. feet and E. hands.

Anyone try SCH for keeping adds busy? I can imagine two SCHs holding them using Gravityga and Bindga.

Why would you bother using 2 sch when 1 rdm/nin and a few pairs of powder boots can get the job done with ease. For the effort it takes to reach Odin (limited to once every 2 weeks) just get a rdm/nin with capped SS macro, proper PDT idle gear and 5 pairs of powder boots (30-50k, they will last some 10-20 odins) and tav tacos.

The rdm uses boots when odin is 1-2% above each 10% threshold and immediately equips a new pair once used. If adds pop diaga and start running, next boots will be ready to use when flee wears off and if really necessary you can swap another pair on and use for a 3rd time. There is ~90 seconds where the adds aren't even anywhere near you, you've probably got another minute just running and trying to stay alive. If your group is taking more than 2.5mins for 10% when adds pop you probably aren't going to win overall anyway.

We always have our thf come /whm and be backup adds kiter just if somehow the rdm does get killed or misses an add, again he has a pair of powder boots but with extended flee and perfect dodge its rarely required.
