Being a Texan and reading this just discourages me further in the /fail side of our state. I have alot of state pride and after living elsewhere i couldnt wait to come back. i missed the wide open spaces and the metropolitan areas. i missed the clean rivers and the muddy lakes. what I didnt miss was the blind worship of everything republican. i understand both sides of most debates. i understand rich ppl want tax breaks bc they employ the rest of us and i understand that the rest of us wouldnt survive if it where not for some sort of government help be it student loans/welfare/medicaid/medicare/social security. BUT IN TEXAS they have actually convinced the lower class that republicans are the moral majority and feel that their bible preaching ways are the only way to go with so as long as your against gay marriage and killing babies you have to vote republican no matter if they will bend you over and shove a 12 inch government dildo in your ass. who cares if you will have a social security check waiting for you when you've worked all your life as long as gay ppl dont get married its all ok right? for me its worse because i live in the center of the economic epicenter for these sorts of problems. 180k rednecks and 20k rich ppl who all want to continue the cycle of hell that bush put us through "boom and bust" security means nothing as long as every 15-20 years we have a boom and i make money then. its stupid and ive written too long about this and now im all pissed off again about the stupidity of our state. but on the bright side sipping some beer floating a river is incredible here so come check it out just dont walk into a gun store and say the word obama unless you want dirty looks.

After Kool-aid man'ing that wall I'd have to agree with you on the Texas mentality of the most part. People like Dimmy for instance crush that stereotype but he is a rare exception to the rule. I don't know about the clean rivers part, my daughter and I fish up shirts and shit when we go visit and catch up on fishing.

The wide open spaces thing I can see where your coming from, but that depends on where you look really. I live in North Carolina and have lived in St. Louis, MO, South Carolina, Illinois and a few other places and they have quite a bit of spaces as well. Oh yeah that place is worse than DFW. You should GTFO. Move to Austin, its full of homeless people and smells like patchouli and arm pits. Other than that, its a nice place to be. I like DFW, haha. I don't live in Oak Cliff, or down in South Fort Worth though, so I don't really worry about gunshots at 4 in the morning or anything crazy. Just a bunch of snooty white kids trying to be gangster and black kids trying to live up to the hood mentality, but failing horribly.

I went to school in Austin for a year and a half (go Horns!) and yeah.. it has its smelly parts, but is a pretty good time. Midland... does suck. Sucks to be you.
