I'd never buy one, but goddamn if I wouldn't love getting one as a gift. I'm sure my cat would love... oh who am I kidding he doesn't give a shit, but it sure would make my life easier.

my kitty is weird and only likes to pee on the edge of the box somewhat, so it wouldn't work as intended for me unfortunately.

neat concept, but someone is definitely making some serious cash off of this.

Yea, so does mine...It's kinda annoying. Only 50% of the litter actually ends up getting used.

Honestly, this isn't much more expensive than cleaning and replacing your cat's box on the regular. You're supposed to get new plastic boxes every month or two, if your cats scratch up the bottom of them, and on top of that, dusty, cheap litter sucks. Would you want to take a shit in a cloud of smelly dust every day? I think not.

Decent litter costs anywhere from $6 to $10 a bag, and you're buying it every week. Add to that the cost of a decent plastic bin every couple of months, and then add in your own time and effort spent. Easily over a hundred bucks, but you repeat that indefinitely. You only buy this thing once.

Of course, all that only matters if it works as intended.

You're also kinda limited in that you need to find a space with a hookup for water and drain. In my place, the only valid locations are already taken up by the washing machine, the dishwasher, my sinks, my toilets, and my shower.

I wouldn't want to find the dirtiest possible spot in my driveway and flop down and grind myself into the dirt... my cat, on the other hand...

But this is taken care of! You put a little T adapter in line with the toilet's water source, and the drainage can go directly into the bowl (it only drains once a day).

Seriously, watch the video, this thing is the ultimate!

One of my cats does that too, but that's different. When it comes to taking a dump, they're both picky as hell, as most cats are. Their ass is their Holy Grail compared to the rest of them.

Unless you have a funky filthy cat that loves rolling around in shit, too, in which case, I feel for you.

Do your cats piss around your place? If they do, I'd check the litterbox for scratches. Smells get embedded in there. We may or may not be able to pick them up, but the cats will, and it's part of the reason they may start relieving themselves elsewhere.

If they don't eliminate where they're not supposed to then it probably doesn't matter for you.

ah, then it's all good. the only time my cat has ever done that was when I first got him and used pellet litter, when he was used to clay litter in the shelter. he didn't like that.

good to know that could be the cause if he ever does start pissing all over the place, though.

I don't have cats anymore, but if I did, I'd hold out for the flushable box that also has scatter guards. The perfect scenario is a catbox you never have to clean, or sweep around!

I wonder if there's a way to splice into your bathroom sink water/drain. Could put the litter box under the sink and out of sight! And just take the door under the sink off the hinge.

My parents actually have a litterbox like that for their 2 cats, and it is awesome. Once the cats got used to it (don't take away the old one immediately haha) it seemed like they liked it better actually. And if i still lived near them, I would totally watch their cats anytime for them while they go out of town since its only feed the cats every day and raid the fridge with no poop scooping duties.
Can't remember the brand they have, but they paid like 250? for it.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    OR get these:

Amazon.com: Fresh Kitty Jumbo Litter Box Liners - Double Saver Pack: Home & Garden

Hella cheaper/less wasteful than tossing out your litter box every 2 months.

My cats despise those things. They won't use a box with them. I did try, persistently even, for quite a while. They'd dig to the bottom of the box, kicking litter everywhere, and shred the liner to pieces.

Of course, they also love to jump on and tear apart plastic bags whenever I come home from shopping, so it's one of their quirks.

I don't believe I'd ever use bleach on their boxes, personally. It's definitely a powerful disinfectant, but I'm a hippie when it comes to that shit. I hate harsh chemicals, so all of my cat-related stuff doesn't contain any (nor do things for cleaning my place, really). And we have an excellent recycling program here, so I'm not worried about wastefulness.

Different strokes for different cats, I suppose.

I know the point of that litterbox, but practically for me it's impossible. I have 6 cats, 3 that are fairly skittish/feral, and that thing would clog up in the first week.

Also, you can disinfect plastic boxes, and they will be just fine to use for at least a year or two. I suggest bleach, though, and nothing else.
jesus christ thats a lot of cat litter

You don't even have to spend more if you have a local Whole Foods, or a decent equivalent.

There, you can purchase wet food (which I'd personally recommend over dry, since cats' teeth isn't geared toward that, but whatever floats your boat) with good quality ingredients. It'll likely cost less than what you'd spend on name brands with shittier components. A fair amount of the "veterinarian recommended" foods are crap, and are only endorsed due to the kick backs they provide doctors with, anyway (just like how it works for humans and pharmaceuticals, what a surprise).
