Some of the stuff on that site is absolutely incredible, i've been interested in 3D modelling for a while now but this is way out of my league.

Yeah I can never even come close to touching the talent on that website. Though I do frequently lurk their forums. I hope that someday I can improve my 3d modeling skills enough that I can create beautiful art.

Most of my experience is with modeling for games which is a completely different mentality.

Someday I will get off my ass and enter one of their challenges for the fun of it.

Something I have never personally gotten into that is an amazing talent is matte painting. You can really create some beautiful art by 3d modeling first then 2d painting over it.
