    ITT Experiences at Recent Concerts/Shows

So I just got home from Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God's set in Dallas, and I walked out realizing it was one of the best shows i've ever had the pleasure to experience. Theres a difference between a good show, and a show that you'll never forget. The best shows have the whole crowd singing every song word for word, chanting and going apeshit in the pits. Amon had one of those shows tonight. Johan Hegg has got to be one of the tallest mofo's in metal. I knew he was tall, but actually seeing him in person totally redefines huge. In any case, I just thought i'd make a topic for everyone to come home and talk about their night with us. Highlight of my night was Johan pointin me out for starting the last big mosh of the night and toasting me with his drinking horn. I'll nevar forget it.

Went and saw Rise Against last friday at Pipeline here in Hawaii. Wasn't mosh pits really, the entire crowd was moshing to the point where even the bar / bathroom area wasn't safe. Everyone was going nuts even moshing and crowd surfing to their slower songs like Hero of War and Swing Life Away. On top of that they were going straight from one song to another stopping maybe a total of 5-10 seconds inbetween songs. The moshing was non stop.

Here's a clip of the last song of the night Prayer of the Refugee: YouTube - Rise Against-Prayer Of The Refugee

Was just a local rock band that opened for them, don't remember the name never seen them before. It was just at a club so maybe 2k people or so were there. I had a great time though.

Two concerts in the last couple weeks...

Last week was Parkway Drive/Stick To Your Guns/Mychildren Mybride. Good show, small venue, was a good time. Had to choose this show over the Lamb Of God/As I Lay Dying/Children of Bodom show that was happening on the same night. Glad I went the way I did. Nothing really special other than being glad to see them live.

Two weeks ago however, was Taste of Chaos, and more importantly, Bring Me The Horizon. Daaaaaaaaaaaaamnnnnnn was that an amazing show, Oli really knows how to interact with the crowd and put on a good set. I have never seen so many people moving at one time during their final song "Chelsea Smile", was quite a site to behold. I did take video of their entire set and put it on Youtube, but it was with my iPhone using a jailbroken video app, so as you can imagine the quality isn't the best. I won't bother to link it unless you want to go search for it. =P I really hope BMTH will be back.... they should though because at the end of the set Oli gave our city props, saying we killed it and should give ourselves a round of applause. Lets hope that sticks.

Next concert is May 30: Misery Signals/Haste The Day/Dead And Divine/Architects. Should be fun.

Some people were wanting me to go to that Bodom/LoG show but god, tickets for anything with Bodom in them now are so expensive.. I love both bands but I wasnt willing to pay $40 for em. I would kill to see BMTH and Parkway though..

Last concert I went to was At the Gates back in July last year, pretty good, but not quite the timeless experience you're on about.

For those... hmmm... first couple that come to mind would be Mayhem at the Palladium in Worceter, MA back in 2000, FF concert in Hartford, CT in '05, and Ween in Nov. 07 at the Orpheum in Boston.

Going to see Mogwai in Asheville NC next week, which will be my first concert in almost a year. Hopefully it'll be worth the time/gas/etc.!

Going to see Bullet for my Valentine in a bit more than 5 hours in a 1200 people venue...can't believe it's actually happening since they cancelled two shows before in 2008 already.

Not expecting very much but we'll see...

Went to see Wolves in the Throne Room last month. Camden Underworld, London UK. I was impressed, and deafened. They managed to make Queen of the Borrowed Light even more epic than it was on the album. Ambient black metal in a venue only slightly larger than my appartment makes me happy.

I went and saw Papa Roach and Avenged Sevenfold last month. It was way better than I expected. At one point, the singer from Papa Roach was running through the crowd which was awesome, and they also played songs from their new album which just came out. I guess that might be common, but it was still cool.

Had to sit through Buckcherry for an hour, but A7X was great too. None of them ran around, but they were really good live. Still doesn't beat when I met Linkin Park two years ago, but it was still really good.

Buckcherry is a scab on the music communities ass as far as i'm concerned lol.
As for A7X, i'm really kinda torn about them. Waking the Fallen is one of the best modern metal albums to come out in the last decade, and yet, after M.Shadow's throat surgery, it just seems the newer direction they started to go in had fallen so far from what it used to be. It took alot of getting used to before I could even listen to City of Evil or anything else from them... just ugh lol

last concert I went to was almost a year ago. 10,000 Lakes Festival. the only bands I really remember are Dark Star Orchestra, an insanely talented cover band that picks a Grateful Dead show and covers it in its entirety, though they do embellish a lot, and of course The Flaming Lips. the Lips + acid + mushrooms = I don't know how you could possibly have a bad time. from wayne's entrance in his trademark bubble to the fanastic visuals on the screen in the background to the sing-along Yoshimi Pt. 1, it was fucking fantastic. they even had a bunch of fully naked chicks on stage dancing at one point, too awesome.

I just want to say I hate everyone who is getting the chance to see Amon Amarth on their current tour. C'mon guys, there's a part of the US called The Midwest, we want to see you too They're one of the few bands I can call mind-blowingly good on album, and I've heard they're just as good live.

Going to see Daath/Cynic/Dragonforce in a week, mainly for Cynic, who were awesome the first time I saw them a few months ago. Hoping I can appreciate it even more the second time.

Ok, so I was really pessimistic in regards of Bullet's live capabilities, but fuck: they were awesome.

Even the sound was perfect (which is rare for the venue they played at) and needless to say that their performance was equally good. They could have played like 2 or 3 more songs but I guess it's best to end a show when it's at its best...

Moral: if you get a chance to see them live, in a club, take advantage of it and go see 'em! You DEFINETELY won't regret it!

    Extremely jealous.

The best show I have ever been to was Agalloch back in 04 I believe. A close second would be Opeth's Blackwater Park tour in 2001 when I was 15. Didn't know anyone into the same music as me and I went to the show by myself and had a great time.

I also saw Hollywood Undead in March I completely forgot about. There were 4 bands playing, the first was a weird techno trio, the second a pretty good Christian screamo band, then Senses Fail followed by Hollywood Undead. I only didn't really enjoy the first band, because where we were sitting, the lights kept shining right in my face and they were impossible to understand lol.

The other bands were pretty good. I wish I knew the name of the second band, because aside from looking funny, they were great. Lead singer was good, and the back-up vocals weren't overdone or just random screaming. Senses Fail was also good, and I liked their drum kit 'cause it kinda glowed orange.

Hollywood Undead I just started listening to about 2 weeks before the show. Idk what they're classified under, but there's 6 guys and they rap and sing. I really didn't think they'd be good, but I really enjoy their sound, even though its not what I usually listen to. At one point, the sound equipment broke and they joked around on stage and with the pit until it was fixed. They have a song on Rock Band 2 called Young if nobody knows of them.

Last show I went to was Death Cab for Cutie in Louisville, not very good actually, too much new stuff, nothing from "you can play these songs with chords" or before and it was sad. sadder yet was the girls in the restaurant before the show that said "i hope they play some older stuff like from transatlanticism" and i had to leave....

best show ever by far, and nothing will likely ever compare, was Coheed and Cambria's Neverender in New York City, all 4 nights blew my mind, the energy there was intense, and everything was awesome.

Going to Explosions in the Sky in Chicago, and No Doubt here in indy this summer nearly within a week of each other, EitS should be pretty freaking amazing, AND its on my birthday
