The other bands were pretty good. I wish I knew the name of the second band, because aside from looking funny, they were great. Lead singer was good, and the back-up vocals weren't overdone or just random screaming. Senses Fail was also good, and I liked their drum kit 'cause it kinda glowed orange.

Hollywood Undead I just started listening to about 2 weeks before the show. Idk what they're classified under, but there's 6 guys and they rap and sing. I really didn't think they'd be good, but I really enjoy their sound, even though its not what I usually listen to. At one point, the sound equipment broke and they joked around on stage and with the pit until it was fixed. They have a song on Rock Band 2 called Young if nobody knows of them.
    Could it be RED?

best show ever by far, and nothing will likely ever compare, was Coheed and Cambria's Neverender in New York City, all 4 nights blew my mind, the energy there was intense, and everything was awesome.

Going to Explosions in the Sky in Chicago, and No Doubt here in indy this summer nearly within a week of each other, EitS should be pretty freaking amazing, AND its on my birthday
Everyone I know who went to Neverender said it was borderline life changing. The only time i've ever gotten to see Coheed was when they were touring with A7X, and Coheed was the highlight of my night. Especially as they brought out the winged guillotine for The Final Cut...too epic.

Rise Against was so meh back in October with Gaslight Anthem / Alkaline Trio / Thrice. Half the crowd left after Alk3 ended, and we left during their first song. We realized we were satisfied with what we had already seen and RA would be a let down after the quality of Alk3, especially considering we had a long drive home (2 hours).

I saw Gaslight Anthem again recently, and they were good but their supporting act was weak. I'm seeing Saves the Day / Alkaline Trio twice in 3 days [Pittsburgh/Baltimore] coming up. I'm very excited :D

Recently saw a show from Diplo, was pretty awesome but the venue kind of sucked was just a bunch of douchebags tryin' to get some drunk girl ass which kind of ruined it a bit, but the actual show was really good.

Also a couple of DJs do a monthly show just down the street from me, guys named Adulture, some really awesome funky-house stuff and those shows are always really good.

Unfortunately I've missed out on a few big-name DJs that have passed through because they played 21+ bars =/

neverender was definitely mind blowing life changing etc, i highly doubt any concert will ever come close to that experience. definitely worth the 13+ hour drive, and the insane amount of money spent.

if you didnt go, and could have, id find the nearest tall building, climb on the roof, and jump off.

I honestly cannot recommend These Arms Are Snakes enough live. Go see them. They're not quite metal, not quite punk, but every bit fucking amazing. I'm sure I've seen 1,000 bands play in my life. Bands like Fugazi and At the Drive-In. For my money, TAAS are better.

You can go to a hardcore or metal show and be afraid that you're going to die, because the pit is crazy and the people there are scary.

You can go see a punk show and be afraid the band is going to die, because they're so insane and fucked up and on drugs.

But when you go see TAAS, you are certain that everyone is going to die, because all of the above are true. Think of the greatest horror movie you ever saw. You were positive it was the greatest thing you have ever seen, but there was a part of you that was just hoping for it to be over, because you weren't sure if you were going to scream or cry or poop in your pants. That's TAAS. Just trust me.

Just got back from Mogwai at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. Holy shit, everyone go see them immediately. I love their studio albums, but they really don't do the band justice... in a live setting, they are a goddamned force of nature. They did Mogwai Fear Satan shortly before the encore break, and I'm pretty sure that's what the end of the world sounds like.

Only real downer was most of the crowd just kinda stood there. On the positive side, at least a dozen people shouted out actually thanking the band for coming back there. I've been to easily 100+ shows over the years, and never once heard anything like that, haha.

Like, a week ago. Sunday the 19th. Propagandhi: Islington Academy. It's like, if Noam Chomsky was fifty years younger. And Canadian. And played lightspeed vegan anarcho-punk/metal songs.

So, not like Noam Chomsky at all really. They did manage to dig up the flute player from Black Widow, and play this long-forgotten gem though:

There's nothing like a roomful of a few hundred sweaty people shouting along to "Come! Come! Come to the Sabbat! Come to the Sabbat, Satan's there!" A++, would watch again.

Louis CK at the Barrymore in Madison, Wisconsin.

FUCKING AWESOME LOL. there wasn't 3 minutes in the whole show where i wasnt laughing so hard my eyes were watering. for those of you who know Louis CK, his stand up was totally fresh with brand new stuff. a bit cleaner than his youtube videos/reputation lets on. one of my favorite comedians next to patton oswalt. GO SEE THIS GUY. p.s. he got a standing ovation and did an encore for us. YEAH MADISON.

A bit cliche perhaps, but if there were ever a show I've seen that I know I'll never forget, it's GWAR. I don't think I understood a single word they "sang" the entire time, and to this day I still don't care.

I've been out of the going-to-shows thing for a while, I really need to fix that now that I'm close to a well-traveled city (Philly) and have more money for tickets.

in all honesty it seemed during a lot of songs like a pit coulda broken out at any second. i kept bracing myself out of habit and then i'd remember i was surrounded by catatonic hippies.
