to me this expasion was very good, really what expect from 10$? but yes they were some annoying shit to increase the length of it but i won't juge hardly since it's first mini expasion and maybe SE will listen to players feed back.

If the add-on was marketed for having good rewards rather than story(missions) I'd agree with Arthars, but that wasn't the case so I expected better!
imho; just like every piece of additional content i've ever bought on XBOX Live. It's short, and in the end I get disappointed that once again I paid for it.
it was short, but i had fun(after the yago orc gods quad farming crap) after that it was all fun. mandy fight i went blm lol. 1600 dmg stonaga III(them buggers take mad magic dmg...)
the BCNM fights i had fun with.
i do think SE really needs to work hard on a CoP vs.2 imo(maybe not as long. maybe 1/2-3/4 that size with a story as good as it.)
but i had fun with this add on0 wish it was longer but thats all.(if they got rid of the 2 farming quests at the start and made lvl caped fighs or something. i think it have been better. 4x BCNM 2 quests(running up tower/stone things by other BCNM) and i would of been a lot more happy.
i made a nasty review for that guy i think ~_~;
Looking forward to A Shantotto Ascension anyway, Shantotto is always awesome they just need to make it longer/harder
$10 DLC for repeatable, though largely random, chances to get augmented items. Basically paying for access to that Tenshodo crate.
Could be worse, but it's certainly not all it could be. Hopefully SE will learn and improve...but given their track record, it'll only get worse.
I liked FF9 best tbh.
There is only about one good defense I've heard so far for ACP. It's brevity allows busy players to experience a slice of FFXI without spending ages on it. A friend of mine has become very busy with school and work. Even though he still plays he doesn't have anywhere near the time required to finish any of the normal mission story lines.
Despite my not liking it very much, I could see why someone might enjoy it for those reasons.
I think if they wanted to go the bundled bunch of storylines way for more profit - they could have easily got away with bundling the Serpent Generals quests + BC as a £10 add-on with the body armour chucked in at the end and got less of a lambasting than they did for this one.
The storyline (which was what I bought it for) was utter crap. We wanted to find out what had gone on since that opening cutscene and we got a lot of utter garbage about a killer lump of rock.
The armor is indeed worth it for some jobs that do not get many choices in gear, such as SMN/RNG/COR for example. as far as the story line goes,
I think SE gave exaactly what people wanted, short quest, that aren't hard, When COP 1st came out it was a serious bitch, people whined and moaned, altho i do admit it was a tad difficult for any standerd group, it was also long, lots of cutscene and you neeeded alot of help for most of the fights which you even lost exp in, then...they NERFED it, now most of it is a joke.
Half of FFXI don't like challanges, they want items with as little work as possible, that is pretty much what this add-on is, but as they said, there are 2 more...so who knows what else they have?
I guarantee it. People adore the Serpent Generals (except Gadalar, that death-prone, flaming sack of shit).
Aldo was a bore. I don't know how they could have made the leader of the fucking Tenshodo any duller short of painting him solid grey. I didn't care about him, I didn't care about his sister and I didn't care about the "fate of the world" thrust upon me when I casually zoned into Lower Jeuno.
Remember CoP? Shit blew up and wyrms stirred from their slumber. You got to kill a GOD in the end.
Zilart opened with the unforgettable Ark Angel cutscene. You got to kill a MANCHILD in the end.
TAU took you to a new world altogether. You got to kill a GOD. AGAIN!
ACP was this:
Sparkle sparkle. Here is my grocery list.
And it ended like this:
Sparkle sparkle.
Spoiler: show
What was the point? What sort of hero am I? If little Aldo is such a child prodigy, why couldn't he use his SEED POWERS to foresee this little hiccup in the enemy's plan?
Anyway, I think if these scenarios are going to be as short as they are, global crises should NOT be at the heart of them. It's unfulfilling to embark on a quest so grand with causes so noble only to have the plot undermine everything you do. A quickie epic does not work. A light-hearted story is better for content so brief, and I hope the next 2 scenarios appeal as such.
I thought ACP would have been a lot better if the final crystal scene has the BGM swapped to Komm Susser Todd
But yeah, it felt a lot more of a chore than an expansion, there'd probably be less bitching if SE just give people the body piece in the delivery box for $10 than with the expansion
On the bright side, with all the negative feedback they got, we can be assured there will be a Ridill dispenser in the next expand if they want to sell any.
Maybe with all the time he'll have not playing FFXI he can actually learn how to write a decently written review.
While it is true that if they made a body better than Adaman Hauberk or Morrigan's Robe that you bought for $10 (with a few laughable missions to justify the price) we would have the right to get our pitchforks and torches and head on down to S-E headquarters, my point was that the sole metric to judge the success of a mission set is not that some jobs get a great body piece when other jobs did not. This metric brings me to...
When I pay for a third of an expansion, I expect a third of an expansion. I don't expect new zones, or new mobs, or new magic, or even a lot of new songs. I expect a lot of missions though. And mostly since this is a Final Fantasy game, I expect a good story with emotional impact. People can say what they want, but the Wings of the Goddess quests released in this update had huge emotional impact. (Particularly the Windy and Sandy ones, even the one for the goldsmithing support item was surprisingly deep.) I don't want a shallow story from an expansion chapter, I want a story with depth that actually matters in the long-term arc of the game. The story of this add-on literally did not matter at all, it would have turned out the exact same way had we not gotten involved, and no one remembers that it even happened.
Seriously, how hard would it have been to put in a cutscene at the end of the missions in Selbina where Aldo meets Mathide and young Aldo for a tear-filled reunion with different dialog from the NPCs afterward? That would be real emotional impact, finally tying up the longest running loose end in the game. It's not that the add-on was too expensive or I expect an unreasonable amount from $10, it's that the whole thing was sloppily written, lazily implemented, and dreadfully conceived wit the fetch parts.
Seriously Square, two-weeks for a hard-core player to defeat it? One of my LS members beat it in less than a day even after going 3/300 for the key items.
Yeah, sums it up fairly well.
If so, I expect a royalty check from Square...

that enchantment ridill is so much win lol
