Whenever I prepare one -- and I always make sure I have a nice cut of steak when I do -- I use a thick dusting of kosher salt on an evenly-heated iron skillet, pre-heated medium temperature, on a gas stove top. Depending upon the thickness of the cut, I'll either cook it for four to seven minutes on one side, then -- after dusting it -- flip it, and cook the other side for an equal period of time. This results in a medium rare steak with a crust (and it won't stick to the pan, unless you use crappy ass cookware, or an improperly treated iron skillet) that is fucking awesome, tender, juicy, and delicious.
If I'm up to it, I'll pre-mix the kosher salt with garlic, cayenne pepper, black pepper, or this and that. Shit is amazing.
If that doesn't sound appetizing to you, learn to fucking cook.
