Too bad that's not the point. It doesn't matter whether your "religion" is wrong/right or whether it corrects itself or not (even though some people somehow think it's wrong when a religion changes: OMG I THOUGHT GOD WAS ALWAYS RIGHT), if you're using it as moral support, and by that i mean, something that inspires in you some sort of philosophy to life, which is far different from viewing science as a tool, then you are in fact using it for the same exact purpose one pursues a religion. The use is analogous, those who use science aren't somehow stronger because they "don't need religion", they're using science to fill that void. The only real problem is that these same people see it as a sort of insult to have science compared to religion, even if they are used for the same thing.

As an agnostic, that's what i do. It doesn't help that studying the history of science makes it impossible to use it as a beacon of hope.

Actually, the way i see it, sometimes it's better to ignore the fact that life may have no meaning since there's, paradoxically, no point to that. So i would agree with Hume that one of the most ingenious things the human mind can do is create what may not exist for the sole purpose of preventing stagnating existentialism.

Not if you're a positivist about it. Like i said, humans tend to have the marvelous ability of ignoring what they don't like, and then believing that they didn't ignore it in the first place. In other words, the limits of reason.

I think I might stop posting for a bit. My medication isn't working all that well at the moment, and I'm seeing it too much in what I'm writing. I'm making shittier posts than usual, and that even blows me away. I don't like seeing my own pathetic posts anymore than you guys do.
