There was something said about prizes for people who interact with the shows and I was curious about that.

Their will not be the opportunity to directly speak with the community team. However the community team will be reading e-mails (LBR will be allowing people to leave messages via skype).

The community team is asking for feedback, suggestions, and ideas for the topics for each show. They'll pick out the e-mails they like the best and decide on the winners.

If you really don't want to listen to the discussions (it's NOT a back and forth Q and A) then don't. It's clear you have already decided you are going to hate the episodes. Nobody is making you listen to these.
We're doing this for the people that are actually interested in hearing things like how the community teams interact with the development team.

Why doesn't SE give us real information about a game that we play? It is because we put up with this kind of thing.

I know you are happy to get any kind of contact with SE, but this isn't what was asked for in the LBR podcast. This isn't what you expected. You are taking what you can get, and I understand that, but at what point are you pleased with something that isn't close to what you really wanted?

For PFA's show, this community topic is what we had specifically asked SE to discuss. Shortly after we contacted them the idea of the Tour was mentioned.

So yes this is very much what we wanted and i'm happy that SE stepped up and said they'd do it.

As for the other shows and their topics, i'm not sure what kind of correspondence was going on with that. As for PFA though we picked our topic so naturally we're happy with it.

Then next time there's developer interviews, don't let people flood them with PW/AV questions and more important questions that affect everyone like the version update quality/add-on quality etc. These are community people, so it's only logical they're doing community based things (i.e Events, contests etc.)

Please tell me you are doing a super obvious job of damage control in pretending you meant to ask for an interview about things the majority of the community could probably give two shits about? Because the only other option is you have no clue what the community really wants SE to start communicating.

And let's be serious, by community I certainly don't mean the log on for 2 hour play with eggs type that Demosthenes mentioned. Those people could be playing any silly side quest/event in any MMO and probably get the same enjoyment.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait a second... are you suggesting that you actually wanted to talk about (and I quote) "Global Support, Premier Sites, Community Contests, Fanart Contests and more"?

That when given the opportunity to talk to someone from SE, you picked to talk to someone from the community team instead of someone from the development team?

Or are you really saying that SE gave you three options and you just got to pick the one you wanted from that list? And that you really didn't have a choice in the discussion at all and just had to take what you were given?

I don't know why you can't at least admit that you would have preferred to talk about real issues, but had limited options that were supplied by SE. I mean you could at least then justify it by saying that you are starting a dialogue that may lead to more in the future.

But to actually defend this notion that you wanted to talk about the Fanart Contest willingly makes me wonder what game you are playing...

Kuno is dead on here. You facilitated this contact to get SE to talk to the players about issues the game was having, problems, notions, whatever the case may be. And the issue that started this, the bannings, is explicitly disallowed from the conversation?

What purpose is this new level of contact if it is nothing more than the old level of contact, except it is now on your radio show? And if it wasn't on your radio show, would you be so quick to defend it? I think not.

The reason we asked the community team for the interview is because I know that if we asked for a developer interview (especially outside of an event like fan fest) that it would probably have a slim chance of happening. So sure i'd love to have the opportunity to have a different interview talking about things in the actual game, but there are certainly some interesting things to talk about outside of the game that deals with the community.

When i say we picked the topic of "community" i mean we PICKED the topic. We said we were interested in talking about things like communications between the regional community teams and the developers. Differences in promotions in other countries (like how people in japan could buy a keychain for moogle caps). They then offered up some additional topics like the contests and since that does deal with community involvement we didn't have any problems.

We've had one of the community team members on before and were interested in having another member on to talk a little more about the community teams role. If we didn't think it would be interesting to listen too, we wouldn't be doing it. Simple as that. Obviously not everybody is going to like the topic, which is perfectly alright. With three different shows coming out there's some different topics that people can see and maybe one of the other topics will be more to their liking.

And every time SE says they can't publicly address a certain issue, there are members in the community who are going to do nothing but complain time and time again about issues that SE has previously mentioned they will not discuss. At the time of the bannings we had an article up on PFA and i had contacted the community team at that time to try and get some information about the bannings and they were unable to provide any. Nothing has changed since then and so it's not surprising they are still unable to talk about this. So why waste time trying to ask the questions that won't get answered? Might as well ask the questions that can be addressed.

questions we all love to hear answers about...fan art...and...seasonal "events" in game...

the problem here is, a good chunk of the playerbase wants real answers to real questions. fuck cheese sandwiches and eggstravaganzas, we want to know their reasonings for giving a monsters a set of abilities or explaining why the chose to ban all those people. We can ask those questions over and over and get no answers. Why? Because other websites want the attention SE gives them and wants to be SEs puppets and talk about what SE wants to talk about - shit that doesnt matter but will make some people shut up. If there were no bullshit websites spewing the bullshit cuecards SE gives them to read, they might have to actually fess up and talk about the things that actually matter.

Quite honestly, I'd rather they not do shit like this to wave their penises (penii..penes...w/e) in front of our faces. This is honestly akin to the president just having a jolly interview with barbara walters about his family and favorite ice cream rather than discussing the issues - something the playerbase deserves after feeding them so much money of the years. This would be a good interview if all the questions we asked have been answered. However, they can't answer questions we've asked for 3 years.
