Spoiler: show
BG may have it's fair share of assholes and what not but I sure as hell dont get my news, job testing, etc from PFA (No offense just making a point) or FFXI Stratics (Offense to be taken) [sp.]
Internet Rage is a scary thing sometimes.
You know, I'm a start eating pizza everyday. Why? well burgers are good, but pizza is BETTER. Fuck doing something different once in awhile.
So "global support" isn't really global, since they won't talk about JP news are support? Just NA-only?
Someone please bring up the billing issues we are all having running cards. NA accounts have now been hit by the problem JP accounts have been having since November. It's showing the same symptoms, and if they fix one, they should be able to fix the other.
do we play ffxi, a game with wyrms, gods, and waves of enemies, or hello kitty online, a game with cute egg games and fireworks. I guess I completely overestimated the playerbase if you represent a large chunk of them - a chunk that apparently swallows SE eggstravaganzas!!!!!!!!!!1 whole.
and criticizing the game =/= hating the game. Unless you want to argue to me dissent is unpatriotic CAN OF WORMS
So you've decided to accept these past "accomplishments" as all you need, and have no aspiration to make yourselves better? You have decided to ignore every other point brought up not only by myself, but other people as well, in an effort to only respond to the commentary deemed positive or -- perhaps -- less abrasive?
I never knew settling for mediocrity was an admirable thing.
Are you still butthurt that I called out your idol Genome for being the idiot he is? It's okay, you can let us know how you really feel (if you can take his cock out of your mouth for a second).
That aside, what you're talking about is empty-headed sensationalist media, and you're right, it's worthless. It contributes nothing to the world aside from some passing entertainment for the masses, while the people who can't appreciate such superficial products -- like myself -- are left scratching their heads, wondering how people cannot seek out more substantial things.
Ironically, this is the very same type of newscasting PFA is now settling for, so you don't even seem to know what you're defending. You should probably try a little harder at making valid points next time, instead of insulting a type of reporting that can be directly tied to the people you're supposedly attempting to defend.
I didn't go to media school, and I positively love FFXI. I play it to get away from normal games, coincidentally, and -- having worked in the industry -- I have a huge amount of respect for the developers, their testers, their artists, and so on, so forth.Originally Posted by byte
As Demos said in other words, criticism does not equal hatred.
So, you and that other guy. What have you contributed while claiming I've given nothing, even though I've provided criticism and options? Oh right, nothing. Care to try again, or are we done here?
Maybe you can just respond to what's said? It was a bit tangential, granted.
What I was trying to basically say is that people are treating PFA interviewing Square Enix's community relations team like it's Mike Wallace interviewing President Omar al-Bashir and failing to ask about the human rights situation in Darfur. OMG IT'S THESE GUYS OBLIGATION TO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER! WHERE'S THEIR JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY?? If any issue in FF is so serious to you or anyone it's likely a good time to take a step back.
Besides, busting on PFA is a bit like busting Howard Stern's chops for failing in the journalism department. (not that PFA or most any talk program delivers Howard Stern's entertainment, sorry)
I really hope the people pissing on these guys are at least fans of their work. Honestly I couldn't give a shit because I know they have little or no interesting things to say to me. If they want to have a shitty interview, go for it. I mean BG has utterly shitty interviews all the time.
Kohan while you are probably saying some truths here, you are wasting your time on a cheap target. It is a fan podcast. A gathering of fanboys playing newsmen for their fans. These guys are not journalists. (And they are better for it I say- I rather listen to fans than journalists)
Ringthree get your head out of your ass.
fusionx you are best not saying much. I wouldn't suggest alienating your fans by becoming SE's sexslave(assuming you are not already), but go ahead with shit like this. Don't even waste your time trying to justify it. Hopefully you haven't lost your ability to be critical of SE in exchange for this interview(once it is all said and done.) If you have you only have your fans to disappoint, because no one else gives a shit.
We've made a slight change in regards to e-mails for the PFA community show.
In addition to taking ideas and suggestions about community events etc. we're also going to be taking ideas and suggestions for ways to improve communication between Square Enix and the player base. So if you guys got ideas for SE make sure to toss us an e-mail before friday.
wait wait wait, I got one:
talk to the community and answer their questions, don't set up bullshit interviews because you don't care about ffxi anymore, and stop being so secretive.
does anything more really need to be said?
Speaking about Limit Break Radio for a moment, our main focus is to bring entertainment to our listeners. We are not trying to be the number one, up-to-the-minute information source. We want to be a casual listening experience while you level your subs, drive around town, or sit in your cubical. If you learn something or get information this way, that's even better, but want we want to deliver most to our listeners is an entertaining podcast. Nothing more.
In my opinion, having a developer interview would turn out just as sourly as interviews past have been: a variety of phrases that mean "we cannot talk about that as of now," in exciting English podcast format! It is a simple matter of fact that Square-Enix will not talk about things they do not want to talk about. If you think that an angry mob of BlueGartr posters or hardball questions from a fanmade podcast host is going to change this, you will be sorely mistaken. Instead of an hour of "we feel that dynamis/salavge/HNM king drops/spawns are working as intended," Square Enix is going to actually give us a dialogue. Some may view this as gobbling up table scraps, but I see it as the first step into a world of communication. Business relationships do not develop overnight and a relationship between a company and its community will not either.
I know that these words are more than likely falling on deaf ears to many posters in BlueGartr, however, I do know that not everyone who reads these forums share the majority's positions. I would go as far as to say that the end game world is in the clear minority when it comes to the fan player base. In addition, those people who do listen to the podcasts would be less likely to be outraged at the lack of "hardball discussion" or even be glad that it is something light-hearted or a topic they actually do, such as the in-game events.
In closing, I'm sorry that these interviews are not what you are expecting, but I do hope you look at these interviews in another perspective. Even if you don't like the idea of the topics that we've going to cover, I invite you all to take a listen anyway. You may or may not learn anything new, but I think that they will be entertaining to listen at the least.![]()
